    What are you drinking now?

Devil's Conclave by 18th Street Brewery. It's very good. Double milk stout w/ cocoa nibs, cinnamon and sea salt. Extremely flavorful and great mouthfeel.

Come on HBT, there's gotta be someone out there with a good recommendation for a Eugene, OR bottle shop!

Going to Eugene, OR in December. What should I check out?

Sorry, should have mentioned I will most likely be Ubering around and not looking to head too far out of Eugene.

Going to Eugene, OR in December. What should I check out?

Hey HBT, Going to be visiting family in Eugene, OR over New Years and I've never been. Wondering what I should check out. Only bottles I know I want to be able to track down to bring home at this point would be anything from De Garde. I hear great things about them. I know they're in...

    What's your favorite Aromatic malt?

So I work at a LHBS and I'm trying to decide which Aromatic malt we want to have as a default. We've been pretty happy with Castle for a while. Simpson's is very nice as well. I have some Dingeman's Aromatic on the way just to smell/taste the difference. I know a lot of people tend to gravitate...

Oxygenating - Bad for hoppy beers?

I ended up oxygenating this batch prior to pitching my yeast back when I brewed it a week ago. Fermentation took off and it still has a nice hoppy aroma coming out of the airlock. For most of the IPAs I've brewed in the past, I did not use pure O2, but I did stir like crazy to aerate prior to...

Oxygenating - Bad for hoppy beers?

So I'm brewing up a hoppy pale ale right now. I have oxygen and a diffusion stone, which I usually only use for imperial stouts/barley wines etc. I've always been hesitant to use it in hoppy beers for fear of reducing the hop character in the final beer. Oxygen is detrimental to hop...

We weren't able to find out much else about the barrels other than they are French oak with varying degrees of char/toast. I want to say that they were fresh, unused barrels tho.

    Free Goose Island Barrels!!!

Another Update on this project... We racked the beer into the barrel and inoculated w/ ~7 gallons of a "sour starter" w/ raspberries that one of our club members was gracious enough to provide (he makes awesome sours). This along w/ the bugs that were already in the barrel are sure to make...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

It's been over a month since I've brewed. I just bottled my last non-sour beer that was in a fermenter so I have nothing in the short-term pipeline at this point. I feel so empty inside. I should FINALLY be able to brew on Monday though. Planning on a Red Rye IPA w/ Nelson and Columbus.

There we go! We had Foret du Centre light and medium toast, and Foret du Troncais medium. They were all very good, the differences on all 3 were very slight, but noticeable. At 17% abv, we were all in good shape after this sampling.

Not Big Worst, but you're onto something with the barrel idea..

Nope, not that one.. the beers I'm looking for are all made from the same wort.. so something post-fermentation/pre-bottling is very slightly altering these beers.

It is Mikkeller, but not those beers.. these particular beers are not a collab

Nope.. hint time.. This brewery does a lot of collaborations with a lot of different breweries, including one very popular one from NW Indiana.
