Toppling Goliath pseudoSue - Can you clone it?

I was just sharing what I used. I used this grain bill because that is the bill Citra Hero uses (probably different percentages) which I was trying to approximate. Honestly, I think 95 percent of cloning this beer to your liking is the hop bill and yeast selection. One thing I've noticed, I've...

Toppling Goliath pseudoSue - Can you clone it?

I may have unintentionally just cloned Sue (the old, amazing Sue). My mom loves Citra Hero by Revolution Brewing but doesn't like the 7.5% abv part, so I tried making about a 6% version. Just pulled my first pint of it and it is so good. I used the 2016 crop of Citra from Farmhouse. Here's what...

Toppling Goliath pseudoSue - Can you clone it?

This wasn't my recipe you were quoting but I'll weigh in. A long while back, Clark was emailed a recipe and he suggested using American ale yeast. A couple others and myself have done split batches and we all preferred British yeast, so I think 1318 would be a fine choice.

Heady Topper- Can you clone it?

I recall several people whirlpooling at 180F. That is what I did and it was the best beer I've ever brewed.

"Northeast" style IPA, what you guys think??

I see no need to ever use a secondary with an IPA. Unless you wanted to add some funky fruit or something to it. Even still, I either dry hop directly in the primary or in the keg. No need to move it to another vessel and risk oxidation.

    First iipa lill help plz

I would double the dry hop in a double IPA. Also not sure I would fwh in a double. I'd personally go for a straight bittering charge. Looks good! When are you adding the sugar?

    Destiny, Enamel Stripper DIPA

Re-brewing this Monday for the same competition. I had to tweak it a little bit based on feedback from score sheets, so I went with more Munich, a different hop schedule with a few substitutions, and am thinking about subbing out all the base 2 row for Golden Promise. What do you think? This...

Toppling Goliath pseudoSue - Can you clone it?

Hey all, I vaguely remember somebody from Madison (I think in this thread) having some Conan on hand but it's buried in my messages or has been deleted. I know there's a few folks in Madison active in this thread and I would like to get my hands on some Conan by Monday. Last minute decision to...

Toppling Goliath pseudoSue - Can you clone it?

Going to brew a batch of beer as a wedding present. They like hoppy but not bitter. I think this is the perfect time for me to try Sue again. It's been a while since I've attempted it, but I've kept up with replies. It seems 007 or a British strain will do (as I suspected ;). After that I feel...

Heady Topper- Can you clone it?

Not sure if this is aimed at me since I just posted I use the page 1 recipe with a doubled dry hop (and a 50/50 mix of two row and golden promise for base malt), but I'm just brewing a beer that ended up phenomenal for me. Not trying to clone Heady in this case.

Heady Topper- Can you clone it?

Brewing this tomorrow for the 4th or 5th time. My LHBS only has Simpsons Caramalt, but they also have Caramalt Light, so I go with that. Also dry hopping with 10 oz. Turned out amazing last time. Other than that, it's pretty much recipe on page 1.

Toppling Goliath pseudoSue - Can you clone it?

Drinking a fresh bottle of Sue. It's cloudy as ever (a good thing), however it is not the Sue I fell in love with. The vibrant juicy flavor is far subdued and the nose is nothing compared to old Sue. I don't think the big scale-up to the brewery is doing good things for the beer. It looks like...

3 FLoyds Zombie Dust attempt. Help/info requested

Mosaic and Amarillo sounds like a great combo to me.

Toppling Goliath pseudoSue - Can you clone it?

I don't know what I was insinuating when I posted that, but I've Heady several times and know that Hill Farmstead is a different brewer. That said, I've heard such special things said about Abner and Edward that I'm dying to try one. Back to the Sue - I've just poured a bottle and it is clearer...

Toppling Goliath pseudoSue - Can you clone it?

We could try another attempt at cloning, or we could do something else. I'm cool with whatever, as long as it's hoppy! McNasty, also in Madison, has been pm'ing me and we are thinking about doing a collaborative brew. Would be fun giving this another shot and doing a 10 or 15 gallon batch with 3...

Toppling Goliath pseudoSue - Can you clone it?

Regarding WiscoBrewer's post, I interpret it this way: Add dry hop 1 for a total of 7 days. Add dry hop 2 on day 3 of dry hop 1. That makes a lot of sense to me and I think will make for a great dry hop. Since I've been dry hopping with my SS keg hopper in a keg purged with CO2 to get rid...
