    Barleywine with blackberry honey questions?

I'm no expert but the honey being around 30% almost makes it a barley wine braggot if there is such a thing haha... That being said, it looks damn good to me. I plugged it in to my ibrewmaster and it looks like the 1056 should bring it down to around 1.024... Hope that helps

    Only small bubbles in fermentation...

Keep in mind it was 113 tootsie rolls in a 2.5 gal batch too haha

    Only small bubbles in fermentation...

They added about .040 to the gravity haha. It just looks like straight chocolate milk in the carboy haha

    Only small bubbles in fermentation...

Does that mean I don't have to worry? I'm very confused...I never pay attention to the airlock, I just have aluminum foil with a rubber band on top of my carboy. I'm really just talking about the fermenting beer itself.

    Only small bubbles in fermentation...

Yea, I'm not really worried about the airlock, that can be very hit or miss for me. I mean more like when the yeast is going and the krausen looks like its boiling. There are tons of bubbles but they're all very small, didn't know if that was a cause for concern.

    Pumpkin Ale help!

I'm relatively to the obsession but I did the NB smashing pumpkin ale which used no pumpkin, just pumpkin pie spice. I amped up the spices...instead of 1 tsp at flameout I added .5 tsp at 45 .5 tsp at 15 and 1 tsp at flameout. It tastes incredible, can't tell that there's no pumpkin at all. Just...

    Bottle conditioning question

I'm only on about batch 6 now but I've read countless threads here and a few books but I still have a nagging question and I'm sure I overlooked it at some point but some guidance would be appreciated. I refrigerated my first batch after 3 weeks, some flavors were a bit harsh thanks to n00b...

    Cinnamon/vanilla addition

I want to add cinnamon and vanilla flavor to my Smashing Pumpkin Ale...I've read in various places that people soak cinnamon sticks or vanilla beans in vodka or spiced rum. I'd like to know people's experiences with this and maybe get some suggestions about how/when to add this and how much to...

    Spice question

I just did a smashing pumpkin ale from NB and it's my first batch with spices. Is it possible that the spices could stay afloat after the kraussen falls? It looks kind of weird right now but I think I can attribute it to the spices. Any experience/advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Brewing a pumpkin recipe

Here is a link to the recipe I am using http://www.northernbrewer.com/documentation/beerkits/SmashingPumpkinEX.pdf I was wondering if it would be a problem if I used either safale s-04 or safale us-05 for my yeast seeing that I sort of pieced this recipe together at my LHBS. Any help is...

    Question about fermenting...

Do you mean that 3-5 days after fermentation is enough for the yeast to do their thing? I had my brew going for 13 days in primary and now 8 in secondary. Do you think I'd be ok to bottle this weekend? That would be about 4 weeks since I started. I also added my flavoring already to secondary...
