BrewDog, still not beer, 55% ABV, £500/bottle, Dead Animal Bottles

Well the thing is it's worked, according to their blog they were all sold out in hours, that 11 x £500 = £5500. Overheads shouldn't be too bad, nice bit of drinking money, excuse the semi-pun. That's easy money,

If you want a mouthfull of hops try trashy blonde, bit like putting a hop bud in your mouth and then drinking some vaguely malted water. Punk IPA is not too shabby, really just like trashy blonde but with less hops.

    Help with lager like beer

I want to do a hybrid lager (AG). By that i mean use lager malt and hops and probably an ale yeast (i think you get steam beer yeasts) as i wont be able to reach anything but 18-21 deg C temps. I want to use 2 x 5L supermarket water bottles to ferment in so hence a 10L batch. Thing is i...

    Good cider recipe?

Thanks, i won't add the apple then. Couple of other questions if you can be bothered reading, tks if you can. 1. When you talk about racking, this just means siphoning the fermented must/wort etc into a new fermenter and stopping short at the bottom to prevent the sludge going into the...

Should i add saaz hops to my beer kit?

No hops come with the kit, it's a beer kit, it a tin of pre-hopped malt extract, i just wanted to spice it up, i have been reading an article about doing so, but i wasn't sure if saaz would go well with the tin of extact. At the end of the day it would still be drinkable right?

Should i add saaz hops to my beer kit?

So i have an ale kit(light), summer ale it is called, now i just ordered 1kg dried malt (spraymalt) to add to the kit as per instructions, i may add 500g of DME and 500gms of syrup, or maybe just the whole 1kg of DME. I also ordered 50g of saaz hops, vacuum sealed. I know saaz hops are used in...

Well i deceided to go with a beer kit for my first brew, for those who read my previous posts. So i got a burtons summer ale tin, the guy also convinced me to buy a bag of elderflowers. So the instructions say to also add 800gms of either light dried malt, beer enhancer or sugar. I assumed...

    Help with brewing method (extract)

Ok guys i am going to go with a Koelsch clone as described here I think this is doable. i have a few questions though and would appreciate any advice. 1) I'm not sure if i should go with WLP810 or WLP029 they both seem pretty similar in that they ferment closer to ale temps, any thought? 2)...

    Help with brewing method (extract)

Ok i understand that lager ferments in about 3 stages and at lower temps than ales the second stage being at around 2-8deg C and the whole process including racking time can be up to about 3 months. So i don't have and will not be getting a chest freezer with a temp controller. In your expert...

    Help with brewing method (extract)

Still trying to get my head around a few things. Say i want to make 25ltr of beer (extract method) and i have a 15ltr stockpot. Can i boil 15ltr (or there about) of malt/grain and then add this to my fermenter and top up with another 10 litres of water or will this dilute the solution too much...

    Making a lager like beer

I am new to brewing but i have been doing some reading so i know a few things so far. So for me lagering is a no go as i couldn't get the temps done to 2-3 deg. I am not sure what temps i could consistently get probably not even under 20deg unless i had some kind of cooling system. So i...
