I have a dual regulator where I set the pressure to 10 psi but it keeps increasing up to 20 psi on it's own. Granted, I did move it from outside the fridge to inside the fridge when I hooked it up to the keg. Could the temperature drop in the co2 tank cause the gauge to increase?
I ended up with more wort than I had anticipated. I started with 6.25 gallons of water expecting it to boil down to 5 gallons by the end but that didn't happen and ended up with 5.5 gallons. Was figuring this resulted in a lower OG reading but wanted to verify.
Boiled an extract IPA last night and the estimated OG came out to 1.057 but measured out at 1.044. I had added 6.25 gallons for the boil but barely any boiled off so I was left with about 5.5 gallons instead of 5. would this account for my lower gravity reading?
Posted this in another part of the forum but may get more response here:
Plan on brewing an IPA this saturday and am using WLP051 liquid yeast. The OG should be 1.057 according to beersmith. I'm kind of hazy of the directions to make a yeast starter (which I'm assuming should be done). Should...
Thanks, is having the starter in a glass pyrex measuring cup ok? I don't have a growler or anything. Also, I should store it where I will be fermenting correct?
Last question, for a 5 gallon batch, how much dme to water?

I'm considering converting my garage fridge into a kegerator and am looking at this system in particular:

I was playing around with the recipe and didn't take it out. thought it would add sweetness to the beer but not sure how it works exactly.
removed it until I understand it more. changed the pale malt extract amount as well.
Ok, so completely new to this but I've done two kits and I'd like to try and "create" my own. Looking to work on a robust porter that I can tweak some the next few months so I have a good recipe for the winter. Here's my first stab at it. Any input, criticism, or advice would be greatly...
It's an extract kit, though. eh, I just thought the OG would be higher. I'll keep it as is I suppose except for the fact the recipe calls for a partial boil and I"m doing a full boil so I adjusted the hop amount and timing.
Yeah, I see your point. putting the bottles in the fridge a day or so before opening may help alleviate that issue, though. just hoping the tabs disintegrate enough to not have these floaties.
eh...well, I'm wondering if I go in the room every couple of days and swirl the bottles if that'll help break them apart more. I don't know. First batch has gone without much of a hitch so far and I want it to turn out well. any tips for these munton drops would be appreciated.
History of my dilemma:

so my LHBS didn't have the coopers. instead, they had the muntons carb drops. Per instruction I added 4 per 12 oz bottle. My issue is I've read mediocre reviews regarding muntons leaving...
