Fermzilla Gen 3.0 doing away with the dreaded collection jar

I bought a Fermzilla 3.0 on sale, should have bought the Gen 3.2 and paid full price as now I'm spending enough to make up the difference. The Gen 3.0 has a 3" - 2" butterfly valve. Now I've decided to do away with the dreaded collection jar. But to do so I need to buy the 3" - 3" butterfly...

    Change to gas board

I thought it was cool (pun intended) to put my gas board inside my kegerator. But that had many problems like 1. Couldn’t fit four kegs 2. Had to get down on my knees with a flashlight to see the tiny Kegland gauges 3. Needed to open the door. So I bit the bullet and mounted it on the wall...

Kegland Rapt Pill floating hydrometer temperature monitor

So I've had my Rapt Pill for a couple of weeks but wasn't until yesterday I was able to put it into action in my Fermzilla. Initially had a couple of head scratching moments but now it's working great and the data it reports is pretty accurate. It's supports both bluetooth and wifi, displays...

cold crashing in a corny keg what temperature, then carbonate at what pressure

OK pretty new to kegging, I just close transferred my beer to a corny keg. It's in the kegerator now at 36 degrees. It was mostly pressure fermented and fermentation was done IMO, hydrometer readings static for a couple days. So my question is related to cold crashing. How long should I...

Leaky co2, do you use duotight connectors on the gas side?

I have a new Komos/Kegland kegerator, my first so I'm learning. In the last month I've gone through two 5# Co2 bottles. After the first I went through all the connector making sure the EVAbarrier tubing was cut straight, then making sure to use keg lube on everything, bought a new bottle and...

How do you know "how much is left in the keg"?

OK up front I'm new to kegging but it didn't take me long to think "how much is in the keg"? I'm thinking weigh an empty keg, weigh the partial, do some math on weight of beer and determine how much is left in the keg. How do you do it? Thanks for any better way, John

    Grain mill recommendation

I'm making the jump from extract to all grain and now I need a mill. I'm looking at several and thought I'd tap the brain trust for recommendations. MoreBeer has a few I'm interested in Malt Muncher 3 roller and Mighty Mill 3 roller, the later comes with a base board and has SS rollers, where...

Storing bottled beer; proper storage temperature

Looking for ideas and suggestions for storing my beer after bottling. I've been made aware since the weather has gotten colder that yeast will go dormant resulting in flat beer. My man cave is a downstairs ground level room which keeps the beer at 64-65 degrees. Wondering what others in this...

Carbonation: How much corn sugar to use, different when ferment under pressure?

I'm still bottling, although I recently acquired a couple of corny kegs and Co2 bottle. But I have no fridge or kegerator yet so I'm still bottling. I have a batch of Russian Imperial Stout in the fermenter which I fermented under pressure and I'm wondering if I should adjust corn...

Pressure ferment w/ Fermentasuarus what pressure?

First time fermenting under pressure. I've got it dialed to ~10#. An Imperial Stout in fermenter and fermenting actively. What pressure should I maintain. I'm not aiming to carbonate just ferment. Very much a noob at this phase of brewery. Thanks, John

    New brewer new kettle decisions

I've been extract brewing for ~ a year. My current kettle is 8 gal and I'm thinking about moving to BIAB with a 15 gal kettle. I don't yet have 240v in my brew space/garage so I'm thinking of getting a BrewBuilt 15 gal with two vertical TC ports that comes standard and having one TC port tig...

Got a two keg starter kit now need a fridge

What would you recommend to purchase on a budget. I could try finding a used fridge or inexpensive new one. I'd use it for storing two kegs, probably modify for external taps and for 7 gal fermentor when attempting my first logger or pilsner. With that purpose in mind what have some of you...

    Extract brewer eyeing BIAB

This is what I've narrowed it down to at this point but the target has been moving. Currently I have an 8 gal kettle. I could make smaller size batches in what I have but. I'm thinking the Brewbuilt 15 gal w/whirllpool port kettle (I like that one), wilserbrewer Grandslam. I'll research and add...

    Diacetyl rest and cold crash

Hello, I’m sort of new to brewing, still doing extract kits mostly ales and IPAs. I’ve made some pretty good beers and some just eh. I’ve been racking to a secondary fermenter before dry hopping. Then up the temp by ~5 degrees for 24 hours or so and just started cold crashing on the last couple...

    hop baskets/hop spiders

I've been brewing for about a year now, still doing extract though the question is related to hop additions during boil. I'm beginning to think a hop spider would be better than mesh bags. Are there drawback using SS mesh hop spiders. Looking for suggestions and or experience. And...

Hello, First time poster here. I've been extract brewing for ~8 months, have made some pretty good beer. My most recent batch Pliny the Elder is totally flat. It tastes fine but flat. I've made the same MoreBeer extract kit previously and it came out awesome. I know I didn't forget to add the...
