    Questions about using vanilla

Well AiH has free shipping on a Vanilla Porter kit, and it really caught my attention as I love vanilla beers. It turns out it comes with two beans which I planned on split, scrapping and soaking in vodka, and just pouring it all in the fermenter after a couple weeks. I want a strong...

Ready to move to all grain, any equipment kit suggestions?

I tried searching, but couldn't find anything recent on a good equipment kit to get. I've been brewing extract for a year now, and feel its time to move on. I think my burner from Northern Brewer, and wort chiller will suffice. But I don't know if my 8 gallon kettle is big enough. Also...

Am I troubleshooting this CO2 leak properly?

I've got a Taprite regulator going to a 3 way air distributor. Basically what I'm doing at the moment is leaving all the gas line connections unplugged from the kegs, closing all the valves, and pressurizing the regulator to 10 PSI, every day I'm going to open a new valve if there's no change in...

    Extremely slow CO2 leak?

Edit: 3 month leak? I have a two tap keezer, and I noticed today that my regulator needle had bottomed out; but the PSI is staying at 10. Two of the kegs were already fully carbed before this tank, with the third keg thats waiting to be tapped force carbed with the current tank. I had this CO2...

How does my tap water look?

Here it is... I'm really hoping I can use it to brew with it would cut down on the cost of having to use Walmart spring water. Sorry about the orientation I'll fix it when I get home.

    Sam Calagione and skunky homebrew?

I'm watching Beer Wars and I notice Sam has his clear carboy of beer on his kitchen counter in front of a window with the morning sun hitting it? Wouldn't this cause it to become light struck/skunky? Not to mention the additional heat...

My Johnson temperature controller ruined my beer please help

I went down to check my beer earlier and the compressor was on with the temperature at 36 degrees the beer had been fermenting vigorously since Tuesday. The temparture controller was acting funny yesterday showing heating setting instead of cooling,so I unplugged it and plugged it back in and...

    Viability of dry yeast?

I'm ordering the Imperial Stout Kit from Northern Brewer. I plan on pitching two packets of Safeale S-04 directly into the fermentor, and to make sure I decided to check MrMalty. But it's asking for the viability of the yeast? Whats the best way to estimate this? Thanks!

Anyone else annoyed with newer breweries using cans?

All the new craft breweries in my state use cans instead of bottles this sucks! Now I have to choose between supporting local breweries and bottling from my keg which I do quite often. When touring a local brewery the tour guide was talking bout how much "better for the environment" cans are...

    Spray painting my Keezer Coller

I was planning on doing two coats primer and then one coat appliance paint. But I ran out of primer after my first coat and instead of picking up another can I got some enamel paint to do another coat before the appliance paint. Will this adhere properly ? Thanks,

Will removing fermenter cause off flavors? Have family coming need help ASAP

I brewed a chocolate milk stout on the 28th and fermented at 60-62 degrees using S-04. Sadly, at the moment the fridge my kegs are in is also a fermentation chamber. Its been almost week since fermentation and the krausen has already dropped and everything, would it make the yeast mad if i moved...

Do you think the Anheuser Bush Brewers drink good beer?

They must be pretty skilled to make beer so watery and consistent. But do you think they actually drink and enjoy the stuff regularly? I would want to think they despise the stuff.

I picked up a Brewers best chocolate milk stout

And on the box it says secondary fermentation required? I only have a primary fermentor.

I think I overcarbed my beer?

Ive had it carbing for around two days at 30 psi. And dropped it down to 12 psi and tried to serve at 37 degrees ( at least my temp controller says 37). But when I turn the co2 off and vent a little bit I get perfect pours with a creamy one inch head.

Is this leak something to worry about, it's my first beer....

I checked my fermenter just a few minutes ago, and at the bottom of the spigot from my Speidel was a single drop. I rubbed my finger on the drop and it felt like syrup and smelled extremely good. I hadn't noticed it previously though my beer has been in the fermenter since Saturday. I really...

Just finished my first batch!!! Got a few questions!!!!!!

Only thing I messed up on was I forgot to take hydrometer reading before pitching of the yeast is this ok? My kit was a Northern Brewer Irish Red Ale Nottingham dry yeast. I am so impressed with the wort chiller I had the water down to 80 degrees in less than 15 minutes. And the cold water to...
