    Single Hop Porter

I would used the Galena and dial back the amount of the second and third addition. That would be the best way to keep it at 1 oz. or less. The downside is that you are going to miss out on the aroma that you would have gotten from the other two types of hops.

Brewing on the Edge of the World: Canada's Arctic - Part I

This is the most interesting thing I have ever read on HBT. Can't wait for part II.

So, what is your glass of beer of choice?

My go-to for high gravity beers for a while was a snifter I got at Founders. That was until I got this goblet at Short's a couple months ago: https://www.shortsbrewing.com/product/goblet-glass/ I have found that this glass ends up being perfect for almost any style... for me at least.

Using fat for too much foam

The party is just my very large immediate family. Honestly, it will probably just be my two brothers and one or two of my sisters who drink beer that will try it, so no worries about diet concerns. Pouring the whole sixer in a pitcher is a pretty great idea. I might try that if passedpawn's...

Using fat for too much foam

This is a really cool idea. I will stop by Wallgreen's on my way home. Thanks!

Using fat for too much foam

I've never actually used ferm cap, and I don't really know anything about it. I might look into it for future brews, but I am going to this party right after work today and don't have time to go to the LHBS. So I was trying to think of something that I could find a typical kitchen. Thanks...

Using fat for too much foam

I should have said that there are no signs of infection, except perhaps the foaming. The only reason that I said something like that was to avoid getting into a discussion about infections, which I understand COULD be the issue. But that's not the point of what I'm trying to get at here. I...

Using fat for too much foam

Thanks for the ideas. They have actually been in the fridge for a couple weeks and still majorly foamy. the slow release thing might be a good idea to try.

Using fat for too much foam

I have a session IPA that I brewed and when I open it, the bottle overflows with foam soon after its opened. No signs of infection, so I may have overcarbed it a bit. I am thinking about bringing a sixer to a party tomorrow. Tonight I had an idea. Add something with a lot of fat content...

Rowdy Root Beer is made with "Flavorless Stout"

I suppose Guiness isn't terribly flavorful, so you may have a point there. But it's still got a lot of roasty flavors. I guess what I'm wondering is if they use some kind of high tech fancy process to take the flavor out of beer to make it flavorless. EDIT: I only saw the first line of your...

Rowdy Root Beer is made with "Flavorless Stout"

I just saw that one of my local bottle shops just got Rowdy Root Beer (apparently a brand that is trying to compete with Not Your Father's). I thought I would do a little research to find out more about it. What I read is that is is made with a "flavorless stout" as the base. Kinda seems like...

How I Got Kicked From Beer Advocate (& HBT)

This thread has been terribly entertaining. The real question here that I have though is, the OP got banned from HBT, right? I went through about half of the thread hoping to see another post from him and I gave up at around page 35. His replies literally made me laugh out loud, so I...

Questions about ale yeast in cider

I've made cider with S-04 and it was delish. I had an OG of 1.050 and it completely dried out just fine. I primed with priming sugar and it carbed well. I stayed on the low end of carbonation just to be safe with regards to bombs but it was great nonetheless. I'll see if I can find my notes...
