MacGyver would leave out key ingredients or steps when making dangerous objects to prevent the general public from trying it. Perhaps something like this would help protect our youth!
I'd recheck all your connections anyway. It is almost certainly the cold drop, as a leak won't really register on your gauge until you basically empty the tank. (at least in my experience) However, it never hurts to be cautious.
I've got all new o-rings for it. I'll give it a good scrubbing and put it all back together. As it's not my only empty keg right now, I'll pressurize it and let it sit for a while to make sure it holds up.
It is true that it won't touch the beer. Looking at them from beneath, it looks perfectly fine. I just worry that it will eventually give and I'll have a beer fountain on my hands. Is that a reasonable fear, or am I reading into it?
I just got a keg in the mail and was going through an initial cleaning of it. After taking off the posts, I noticed a lot of corrosion or something around the threads the posts connect to (I'm not sure what the official name for these are). I proceeded to clean it with PBW but it did not...
I've used the Co2 charger that was linked a number of times. I've never had a problem with attaching the Co2 cartridge before connecting it to the keg.
I also use slightly smaller generic Co2 cartridges for cost reasons. I just pack some paper towel at the bottom of the handle and the...
I'd prefer to age my bottled beer cold, but with limited fridge space, that's not really an option. I've had no problem with aging at room temperature, but if you can get it in a fridge or in the basement after carbonation, go for it.
Boston Lager was my first experience with something that wasn't a BMC, and I haven't looked back. I had myself a Black Lager this evening, and will often buy random styles to add to the fridge. I definitely have expanded to many many other beers since, but it started my journey. They may make...
I do 2-3 gallon boils all the time on my electric range. It struggles to get to boiling, but it gets there. I think I'd have to take a nap after I turned up the heat waiting for a full 5 gallon+ boil to get going. I've never been unhappy with my hop utilization, though it may be in my future...
I do a combo of online and local purchases for all the reasons stated previously. But the real reason I buy locally is that it is one more opportunity to talk beer with someone who knows what they are talking about.
Hey Everyone!
I've been brewing for the last year and a half now and have been lurking around here since I started. I figured it was finally time to sign up and join the dialog a bit. I attribute pretty much everything I know to you guys, so thanks a lot for all the helpful responses I've...
