CO2 charger on a Corni keg

I just kegged my first ale. right now due to lack of funds I am using a CO2 charger with a ball lock. I am going to put the keg in my fridge with a picnic tap. I was hoping to be able to drink it at leisure and over a period of time, say a week or 2. My questions: How long will the...

    Sanitizing Question

So this is my question: I sanitized my 6 gal carboy 3 days ago, but then I didn't have time to transfer. So now, 3 days later, I am wondering if I need to re-sanitize. It was just sitting in my work room empty so does anyone thing this is unnecessary? Cause I sure don't feel like waiting to...

Just got a Corny Keg, What else do I need?

I'm putting a lager into the 5 gal keg and letting it sit in a walk-in cooler for a couple of months, then having a few people down for the weekend and drinking it all. My plan is to build a trashcan/laundry bin thing that I can fill with ice and put my keg in for when get ready to drink it...

    Growing Grapes in transplanted soil?

Howdy, I have a farm in Eastern NC, at this farm we have several center-pivot irrigation systems. We are looking into some ventures outside our normal game, which is turf. One idea being tossed around is taking an auger and pulling out our dirt, sending our trucks out to Napa valley...

    Honey in Beer!

You are going to see some changes in the beer during its aging process. But I would say that you should figure in more Honey malt in the boil next time, as that most things in the secondary add more to aroma than taste.

Moving to Secondary, want to bottle a few?

I have a pilsner in the primary right now and I got access to one of my X-mas gifts(a 6 gal carboy), so I think I am going to sanitize and move it into the carboy with some aroma hops. But I was also thinking about maybe filling up two 22oz bottles to let them carb. I have some carbonation...

    Waiting for the lunar eclipse!

The skies here just cleared in time to see the moon turn from a white sliver into a full red moon, awesome. Too bad I don't have a camera. Oh, well. Now I'm going to sleep.

How would you get yeast in the wild?

Okay so since yeast have been consuming sugars and making the marvelously intoxicating liquid we all love so much I assume there must be a way to harvest yeast with out some sort of lab. Does any one know how one could acquire yeast if they were stranded on an island or in some...

Sorry guys, I just found 'em. Heres the link if anyone wonders... http://www.austinhomebrew.com/product_info.php?cPath=178_356_63&products_id=10202 Does anyone know how difficult these are to install and will the 16 oz caps work for 22 oz?

    Can you install swing caps?

Can you put Swing Caps on bottles that dont have them? I have some 22 oz bottles that I plan to move my lager into, I was wondering if I could buy and install swing caps?

    How cold is too Cold(Lager)

So does the yeast die/sleep/stop if it even hits below the range or do they simply work as efficiently... in other words do I need to re-yeast?

    How cold is too Cold(Lager)

So I have my first lager fermenting, its in a guest house with the thermostat keeping it around 50 F. But it has been unseasonably cold the past 2 nights, and I don't think that the heat has kept the room right at 50 F over the nights. I checked today and the temp on the bucket was 44 F... I...

First Brew: Lessons Learned and a Few Questions

So adding cold water at a hot break will simmer the boil over? Thats good to know, i would not have guessed that ADDING more water would solve the problem, but I see how the temp change will do the trick. Nice tip.

    and now what...

and yes, I think I am going to make a Counter-Flow-Chiller. I'm sure there is already a thread so I won't get into that here.
