Heres my idea, I am going to brew a 5 gal belgium tripel and ferment it in:

- (2) 1 gal. Glass Jugs
- (3) 1 gal. Charred Oak Barrels

I got the barrels from my old man, they were used to age moonshine but they are empty now. The glass jugs are 1 gallon Apple Cider Vinegar jugs. I have a carboy, but I was thinking of doing this so that I could ferment a couple of the batches for extended time.

My question is, do I need to start this in a carboy and then split it in secondary, or start them right off in 5 batches?

Any suggestions?

I would divide at secondary. Also, are you sure your barrels are watertight? If they've been stored dry you might have problems with them.
