    Dumped 3 batches in a row ☹ Can’t figure out what’s wrong.

This is driving me insane. I have never dumped a beer before this month. Probably over a hundred brew days in my life. Dumped 3 batches in the past month – over 30 gallons. All the same recipe. At 1.068 I haven’t changed anything in my normal brewing process other than the yeast. Hornindal...

Splitting yeast starter into separate containers. ok?

Thanks. Im just trying to find the source of a strong off flavor (chemical/metallic) that ive had the past 3 batches. Had to dump them. My process and recipes are the same. It's driving me insane. I had great batches before. Something the past 3 batches is wrong. I've already emailed omega...

Splitting yeast starter into separate containers. ok?

I made a 20ml starter using my flask with 200g dme. After the temperatures were proper, i pitched 2 packs (keivik yeast) into aerated wort (1.040) and shook it some more. But the liquid was too much and worried about overflow so i poured half the flask into a sanitized growler. Is there any...

Bad yeast? Thoughts on this failed brew?

Thank you. Good info.... . And no, not at all. It was the same process. It was also an 11 gallon batch both times. I Pitched 2 packs. Starter via 2 packs about 2000ml. Not crazy big but i hear kveik does well under pitched - I don't believe it was under pitched, just sayin.

Bad yeast? Thoughts on this failed brew?

i should also mention. on the 1st brew when i got a 1.030 reading after cold crashing.... i obviously didn't keg it. I let the firmzilla warm back up to 80f and a few days later the yeast took off again. 4 days later the reading was 1.011. So they finished eating but it still tasted horrible...

Bad yeast? Thoughts on this failed brew?

I didn't taste the starters (never do gross lol) i only check the gravity and they did the job around 1.011. I use RO water with brewing salts added (i use beersmith)

Bad yeast? Thoughts on this failed brew?

I'll try and make this short, ugghhhh. About a month ago, my friend failed to bring my yeast shipment inside/refrigerator while I was out of town. It sat 2 days in 95 degrees garage (maybe hotter). Kviek yeast... When i got home the yeast packs (omega) were like balloons. I put them in the...

NEIPA. Dry hopping in keg. Hop Creep....

Sounds exactly what I do. The past 5 brews/kegs using that keg hopper/mesh container, i get really murky beer the first 4 or 5 pints. This is the only problem so far with 4oz in the container. I feel like 4 pints gets wasted. I drink them but they are ugly. Does this happen top you?

NEIPA. Dry hopping in keg. Hop Creep....

I just ordered "the New IPA" on amazon. Thanks.... I have the original. NEW SCIENCE! Hope he talks about kveik yeast lol but probably not.

NEIPA. Dry hopping in keg. Hop Creep....

So it's safe to say keg hopping during carbonation is a good idea. And it takes less time than i always heard (always heard around 10 days minimum for keg hopping) "Even at colder temperatures of 34-39°F (1°C-4°C), Wolfe suggests that extraction could still occur in less than three days." Hop...

NEIPA. Dry hopping in keg. Hop Creep....

I've been doing some reading and looking over recipes. I have yet to hear someone mention dry hoping in a keg for New England Style IPA. There is a lot of discussion on "Hop Creep". Wouldn't dry hopping colder (in a keg) help with eliminating hop creep? Instead of during active fermentation...

Kveik yeast - shipping warm/hot weather

Is there a need for ice packs? These yeast like to ferment 90 degrees f. Would the hot weather in FedEX or a mailbox hut these little guys?

    Ruined by Kviek and technology

Interesting. I was listening to a podcast with a farmhouse guy in Norway. He was saying low Temps (like 75-80f) give a clean flavor, but the true character comes out at 90. I guess it's an acquired taste thing? Also he mentioned under pitching can really bring out some great flavors. Too...

Right? Yeah luckily I have 5 other guys splitting the cost. I do most the work but we go through them pretty fast. We brew 11 gallons a week. But now I can do some extra stuff on the side. I've only tried Hornindal KVEIK with my IPA and it's the best I've done. I wanna try some lager/bock malt...

Question: Liquid yeast package sat in hot 97 degree garage for a day.

I was out of town and a friend brought in my shipment but didn't put the yeast in my fridge like I asked. I had them shipped with ice and insulated package but they were beyond melted. About 27 hours. Obviously making a starter. But wondering if anyone else had a similar situation? White...

Kviek yeast is amazing. I just ordered three new 7gal ferm buckets so I can do experimental brews in my 90 degree garage. I already have two Fremzilla65Ls that sit in full size refrigerators. Only issue is cold crashing the buckets. Should be fine.
