    Schneider Weisse Aventinus Clone

Alright, I'm trying my hand at an Aventinus clone. This will be my 3rd BIAB batch and the first one with new equipment (a 15.5G half-barrel stainless steel keg, 60,000BTU burner, and a custom bag). This was created from research of different clone recipe attempts, trying to build on the...

    What type of hops?

Has a pretty full mouth feel for just some water with buds

    What type of hops?

I tried 4 buds steeped in a cup of hot water for 8 minutes. No smell really, but pretty bitter - tastes equivalent to a 40IBU beer. I prob won't use these but think I could. This is also a month past harvest. Are there many varieties that don't work for beer?

    What type of hops?

Hmmm thanks guys great ideas. I'm definitely going to try making a 'tea' out of it. That's what you mean right, just the hops - wouldn't combining with coffee or tea mask the scent I'm trying to determime?

    What type of hops?

I suppose it would be of value to add that I live in Edmonton, Alberta Canada (the northern prairies). and it grew like a weed, that entire growth in the picture is this year

    What type of hops?

Thank you kindly, very interesting. About how much of such an unknown variant would you say to add to dry hop my current brown/winter ale that is just in primary?

    What type of hops?

There is a vine growing on my fence (attached) that I've recently begun to suspect may be hops - based on it's flower shape (also attached). I believe this forum may be one of the best informed places to ask if this is a hop plant, and if so what type? Thanks! :mug:

    Ingredient jazz

It's been a week (temp range between 17C - 21C)and the gravity on this has stalled at 1.022, from an OG of 1.050. Little higher than I'd like before racking to secondary, but I'm not sure how much further it may drop after the transfer. Is this in a good gravity range to rack? I can wait longer...

British Brown Ale Nut Brown AG

We'll see. It's been a week and has dropped from 1.05 down to a stall out of 1.022. Low enough for secondary I guess but I wish it went further. I just happened to have a few of these grains left over from the last batch and thought I'd throw them in, maybe give some subtle complexity? Good...

And appreciate the help everyone. Bams at what point is that too add the hops fur bittering? How many minutes into boil

    Ingredient jazz

Thanks bams, exactly. I'm guessing it would be more around 9 lb of two row used... Just not sure how I can give our what type if beer these could make and the safest combination of them in a 6G BIAB... Which my pot will still be barely enough for and I may have to just add some heated water and...
