    New BIAB setup help

I have been brewing AG for about 6yrs now and l was looking for a change to my cooler and old brew kettle... I am looking at replacing my old kettle with a bayou kettle with the ball valve and basket. I was planning on getting a pump to recirculate the mash (similar to the high gravity setup)...

    Home Brewing = Saving Money?

Brewing is cheaper than other hobbies that would still end with me having a beer.. So net net.. A good brew is cheaper than a new golf club and green fees. And I would still get a beer afterwards

How many brews have you dumped??

The best part of brewing over the last 6yrs for me has been new recipes .. So creating a few dumpers does not bother me as I know why the brews don't taste like I had hoped.. I may just start doing some 3 gallon batches though as I am having a hard time keeping up with the amount of brewing I...

How many brews have you dumped??

I have brewed a couple batches recently that just don't fit my pallet.. One is an IPA that just tastes muddled, with no clear flavor or aroma taking the lead. The other is a smash the the hops just are not what I expected.. So I am getting ready to dump both (they have had time to age but are...

    Belgian beer taste?

I have to agree with some of the others that there is so much going on in the recipe that it is challenging to point to one thing, but what temp did the beer ferment at?? But let this thing age!!! As all those flavors will take time to blend.

    Belgian beer taste?

Can you post your recipe and include the yeast you used?? I love Belgians, but they can be very complex depending on the yeast, recipe, temps, etc... I will be honest that I am totally biased and think that everyone can find a Belgian they like.. What commercial versions have you tried and...

    Challenger Hop Question

Okay.. The minty part is what I was not able to put my finger on.. I used about 3 oz in the last 10 minutes so it is a little bit hoppy as you can imagine, but very good.. I think I enjoy it more as it warms up a little!

    Challenger Hop Question

I did a smash with challenger hops and was looking to see if anyone else is using challenger? The hop seems fairly floral, but I was wondering what other people think of the hop!!!

    Old Grains for Sour Ale

Cool.. I hate to throw out things and the grains are about 6 months old and are not something I would use for anything else

    Belgian Session Suggestions

I ended up with WLP530 as my lhbs did not have anything else.. Removed all sugar and subbed Sterling for Saaz.. Looking to dry hop with Sterling as well.. Mashed at 156* and have it in swamp cooler at 66* right now--- just brewed today

    Belgian Session Suggestions

I was planning on fermenting at about 67*.. I also like the idea of backing off the sugar and increasing the grains to include some flaked wheat

    Belgian Session Suggestions

I am trying to end up around 4% to 4.5% ABV so increasing the malt might throw me over that.. What do you like about the Styrian Goldings?
