    liquid yeast Q's

I disagree with these guys saying a 1000ml starter is just too small and wont work. It should work just fine. Will it be 100% ideal. NO. When I first started homebrewing I would just toss the vile into my wort without making a starter. In fact I have made a TON of batches just like...

Modified NB Caribou Slobber? Think this will work?

Accidentally posted in wrong forum, I moved it... Sorry

    Wort chiller

I could be TOTALLY TOTALLY wrong here. But I don't use one. It seems wasteful to me, to just pour all that water for no reason. I use an ice bath, which still isn't fantastic, but it works very well, and uses a controlled amount of water. I just put a sanitized lid on my pot, and then put...

Nearly froze my keg, could it mess anything up?

So I just set my keggerator back up after not using it for YEARS... My house is a little cooler than where I used to live. And I did not take that into consideration. I set the keggerator to what I remembered was my normal setting back in the day for a full keg. Put my CO2 line onto my new...

    irish red from northernbrewer

That cap may not have sealed properly. That would allow CO2 out, causing it to be flat, and could let buggers in.. Causing the off taste. Just a thought.

    Did my fermentation stop?

Put it in the keg last night. worked out to 1.020. Which was just a dash higher than ideal for style. But it tasted good, and the ABV fell within the appropriate range. Should be really good!

Those shutoffs on the bass pro burners are AWEFUL!!!! I did the same thing except using an automotive hose clamp... Dont try to remove it, the fittings are different.

Added sugar to bottles, think they'll blow up??

Try it again with more sugar? I would do it to just one bottle though to see what happens...

    Brown Ale time before kegging?

That was my plan.. Thanks for the input everyone!

    Brown Ale time before kegging?

Sounds great... In this case I think I nailed most of these things... Temps were low 60s throughout the entire fermentation. I used dry yeast so there was a rather large pitch... And I aerated the snot out of it before putting it in...

    Brown Ale time before kegging?

I have a brown ale that a brewed about a week or so ago. I am anxious to get my kegerator up and running and brew another batch. So I would like to put that brown ale into the keg and force carbonate it in the near future. What are your thoughts as to the earliest I can do this with decent...

    Check Valve ??

Also, by check valve, I mean the proper definition. One that allows air through one way, but nothing through the other way.

    Check Valve ??

I like to force carbonate, I would really like to get a check valve for my CO2 line. Do any of you know a good one? Thanks in advance!

Sounds good, thanks for the clarification.

    Did my fermentation stop?

Thanks for the advice though.. I will leave it a week and test again, if its stuck, I will figure something out.

    Did my fermentation stop?

I was referencing the airlock, not the fermentation. But in a sealed vessel, with a fermentation byproduct of CO2, the airlock should have slight activity..

    Did my fermentation stop?

I know I need to take multiple consecutive gravity readings to tell for certain. Just took the first one today. I made a brown ale and used safeale-04 dryyeast. I rehydrated them, and pitched them into a beer with an og of 1.054. Within a few hours the airlock was bubbling like crazy...

Brewing a NB - John Palmer Elevenses Brown Ale want some advice on spicing it...

I am about to brew a batch of John Palmers Elevenses, its a brown ale with some toasted malt and baked oats.... Being that the holidays are coming up, and it should be in the keg just before Thanksgiving, I am considering adding some Cinnamon and perhaps nutmeg to the boil. I havn't ever...

    Parts lists for cooler valve?

I am thinking about building an all grain setup. I am working on specking out a MashTun out of a 10 gal cooler. From lowes (About $50 USD.), I found a false bottom online for about 30 bucks. And lastly, I need to figure out how to redo the valve. I found some kits on Northern Brewer but...
