    Stuck fermentation and re-pitch

well..what is target FG? what temperature? how much unfermentables? recipe and process specifics might help us guess the problem.

So far me and yeast ain’t getting along

I believe Fermentis now recommends NOT rehydrating but just dry pitch. I suspect that would apply to most all dry yeasts.

    Is this grain milled enough?

well...it's hard to really tell if it's still in the bag. But pre-crushed grain is usually a bit coarse for BIAB. But extending the mash time might make that irrelevant?

    grease for electrical connections

the immersion element has nothing to do with my brewing. it was for another application. the gauge of my ext cords and pigtails I've used in my brewing system are more than sufficient for the current. They were not "cheap" to buy. The question was specifically about where there the...

Bourbon to soak Oaks Cube into Imperial Oatmeal Stout

    yeah man...don't waste good bourbon...

Thinking of going to a simpler brew system from my current 3 "pot" system.

well...I just bought one...Vevor...used from a guy getting out of the hobby. Didn't need it, might use it once... but was a single benjamin...just a hundred buck...I was really there just to buy a 3 gal corny. but figured why not for the price? will report back if it even works...LOL

oxyclean or generic versions work well

    Sparging with biab

sparging will probably not improve your taste. Only efficiency. "how" you sparge will affect your lauter efficiency.

    BRY-97 Cold

Any similarity to K-97? the numbers look strangely...the same? coincidence?

    How long to mash

most of the starches are converted in probaly the first 20 minutes. That said, 1 hour is the standard. pretty much gets it all. any longer is just gravy. I mash 10 hours...but then again...I'm away all day at work so why not???

    grease for electrical connections

that's what I would think but it seems to appear that where the plastic parts touch are not fused. well, at least where I can see... but any connection point is a point of likely reduced connectivity and increased resistance...a focal point of heat is the result

    grease for electrical connections

on that particular immersion heater...no that's how it's just made. it has an integrated 5ft cord. standard generic plug in immersion heater https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09MVLTWDD?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_7&th=1

    grease for electrical connections

both switched and unswitched. new clean terminals. snug, not loose. but they are energized for extended periods of time for various applications. Hours, not minutes.

    Flip Top Glass Bottles

I first used store bought flip tops long ago...they are weak and you will have some explode... Just buy a bunch of beer in flips. Grolsch is the fav of many. They are very thick and strong. The actual cost will probably be cheaper than buying "new empties" and you get free beer to drink...

    grease for electrical connections

I've had various heating elements in the past actually fuse plugs together. I use heavy gauge extension cords but I have experienced where a 1500 watt heater would fuse with the ext cord after extended use. For example, I have a 1500 watt immersion heater (not for brewing) that has...

    Sparging when biab?

usually it's room temps. filtered water that was already pulled for brewing. the mash is already converted so just rinsing grain. obviously hot will be slightly more efficient at rinsing out the sugars...

    Sparging when biab?

basically what you do with a BIAB basket...Lift the basket and drain it., then add water to the top of the grain bed to rinse the residual sugars...just make sure the water is distributed evenly over the top. I've even used just a hose sprayer on the "mist" setting and misted the top of the...

Pilsner Pressure Ferment and at Lager Temps?

I did not know that. I assumed time just sitting would attenuate any diacetyl? If you are fermenting a little on the warm side do you even need the D-rest? Lagers under pressure allow higher fermentation temps. does that basically eliminate the need for a D-rest?
