    Keggle Biab basket

Sounds like solid advice. I do have another question... How do you prevent snags on the bag with no basket? I.e. Thermometer probe, whirlpool arm ect.?

    Keggle Biab basket

I'm thinking of switching to Biab and would like to modify one of my existing keggles. Seems like using a strainer basket can be really helpful. Does anyone out there have a strainer basket that works well in a converted keg set up? Trying to avoid a custom made piece.

    Does this look right?

Thanks all. The tape is just to hold the stopper in place. Had a few pop out in the past. My plan is to let this ferment about 2 weeks (given the gravity seems to indicate full fermentation) and then rack It into gallon glass jugs for 4 weeks. Then bottle or keg depending on availability of taps...

    Does this look right?

My first batch of cider is 3 days in and is bubbling through my airlock consistently about every 5 seconds but there is very little krausen (is the foam even called that in the cider world?) like when brewing beer. Is this normal?

    Cider starter

Whew! Glad the consensus is no worries about contamination. I'd just trash it and start over but I don't have an easily accessible place to get yeast and I'm all out. Thanks everyone.

    Cider starter

Ok. May have screwed up bad. I poured out 1L of juice into my flask, didn't boil because it was pasteurized and then added my yeast nutrient right into it and pitched my yeast. I'm used to using the northern Brewer pasteurized starter mixtures so boiling was not on my mind. The nutrient was a...

    Cider starter

All great info. Thanks. Made a run to the home brew store today to get some yeast. I like white labs for beer so I went with their British Cider strain. Here goes!!!!

    Cider starter

Copy that... I guess I'll skip it. Any reasoning behind not doing it, or just unnecessary work.

    Cider starter

Just took note of a good amount of fresh pressed (pasteurized but no additives) juice in my area and decided to do some cider. I'm a firm believer in robust starters for beer. Is a starter for cider recommended? If so how best to whip one up? Was thinking of just taking some of the...

    Free Bottles

I've got 3 cases of bottles (2 are Sierra/Lagunitas style, one is anchor steam) and a 4th home made case/carrier. Mostly all label free. Free to anyone willing to pick them up in Vacaville CA 95688. I made the cases and they do stack nicely. I seem to remember a thread for free bottles but I...

    Using emersion chiller for CFC?

I'm researching and prepping to build or buy a CFC and had an idea. Could an immersion chiller be used as the inner copper line of a CFC? My thought was to take a small chiller I have (3/8" x 25' copper) snip the upright pieces of and slide on a high temp hose and fashion fittings I've seen...

Side by side fermentor/kegerator (yes another one)

After a few weeks of chipping away at this I finished up a few days ago and have my first brew fermenting nicely in this fridge... But I noticed one hiccup. When the fan is running to cool the fermenting side there isn't much air flow with the doors closed (used my phone to shoot a video inside...

    Sacramento area bottle shops

So this is quite a while after your post and likely too late... But... Nugget market is good. Think regional whole Foods. Should have all those. Plus if add Cali Craft, Rubicon Brew Co (they are downtown in sac) Ruhstaller.
