American IPA Base Pale Ale Recipe for Single hop Beers

Brewed something akin to this with HBC 586. The plan was to follow this recipe but on the brew day realized I had only 4.4lbs of 2-row... so I ended up dropping biscuit malt and replacing rest of the base malt with what I had on hand, Epiphany Foundation, which is like a pale ale malt at 2.8...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Sounds like late boil additions would definitely be worth trying. Are you guys using the same hops in late boil as WP/DH? I always take a sample before dryhopping as well for the same reasons. With ispindel I can then see whether the beer experienced any hop creep during dryhopping without...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I've only done that with one recipe, 1.5oz of Citra @5 minutes. With the other recipes I've done a small FWH or 60 min addition of Warrior and then everything else in WP/DH. Might have to try adding some late in the boil next time. Was going to try and brew the OP recommended combo of...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

How close would you guys say you've gotten to the best commercial examples such as Other Half and Burial(local to me)? I feel like I'm getting close with the aroma but the flavor always disappoints in some way. I've brewed 8 NEIPAs so far since I started brewing last May, and using best...

    Lallemand Verdant IPA Ale

Trying this yeast for the first time in a ~8% NEIPA. Just pitched the yeast into a 1.3 liter starter and will be brewing on Saturday. I can already smell the vanilla notes from the flask. Pretty excited to see how this turns out!

    Hello from Estonia

Welcome to the forum. Not Estonian but an old neighbor here, originally from Finland but living in North Carolina now. Hats off to the Estonian beer scene, though! Põhjala and others are pushing out some amazing beers, some põhjala beers even available here.

American IPA Base Pale Ale Recipe for Single hop Beers

Brewed this recipe a week ago with Ella. I had the opposite problem to @Noob_Brewer and had to move the hop schedule later in the boil and whirlpool with the high 18.1% AA these hops are packing to keep the IBUs down. Based on how the hops smelled, though, I'm pretty excited for this beer. I've...

American IPA Base Pale Ale Recipe for Single hop Beers

Finally got to take a pic of my Strata pale ale. Post dry hopping it definitely has a fruitier character now, taste and aroma of dank lemonade with some tropical fruit. I'm sure it would pair well with other hops especially when used in dryhop.

Turning your Fermonster into a complete closed transfer system for cheap!

I've just connected the gas post on the keg to a container filled with starsan (the same one I've used for blow-off during fermentation).. might be overkill but at least I know no air is getting in/mixed with the co2.

American IPA Base Pale Ale Recipe for Single hop Beers

Cool. Did you use the exact recipe in this thread? I just did a forced diacetyl test this morning (after 7 days in the fermenter and iSpindel showing stable gravity for 4 days) and it passed. Started crashing down to 60 and will probably dryhop tomorrow. I can already definitely see why the...

American IPA Base Pale Ale Recipe for Single hop Beers

I just brewed a single hop beer inspired by this recipe for the second time using Strata (first one was Sabro which turned out great). I modified the grain bill a bit based on what I had using 87% 2-row, 6.5% malted wheat and 6.5% flaked oats. Also fermenting in a fermonster with the closed...

    iSpindel

I'd be interested in one as well

Most of my gear arrived Friday!!!

I was at the same point as you a few months ago, anxious and excited to brew my first batch while trying to gather as much information on the process as possible. I fermented the first two batches using the wet T-shirt method. First one turned out fine (a tad fruity) while the second one pretty...
