Tips For Bottling a High Gravity Stout?

I had a couple that were around that %. I just did the priming sugar and kept them warm. They were fully carbed in about 3 weeks. Something you can do to help sometimes is to gently tip the bottles upside down and back then put them back for more time. I have had to do this with a few of my...

    Beer not very carbonated

might need to have it a bit warmer. I know I had issues with batches carbonating and it was because the temp was a bit low where I was storing them. one thing I would do though would be to gently tip the bottles upside down and back to stir up the beer. After that, it would still take a week...

    IPA recipe turned out weird

I had a similar issue I thought when I bottled my latest IPA after dry hopping. It didn't taste like an IPA...it tasted better before the dry hop. I just opened a bottle of it last night and it tasted great. It is called thunderbolts and lightning imperial apricot IPA. There was 3 oz of hops...

    Chocolate Covered Strawberry Dunkelweizen

I wouldn't worry about straining it. everything will settle out in the primary. You will want the cocoa powder to stay in there after it is beer anyway. That is why I usually add the cocoa powder and nibs in the secondary.

    Midwest Supply kits

I brewed it this last spring and it was pretty awesome. I will do this kit again. I have 4 bottles left that I am saving for when my dad visits this next week. I know talking to people about it they thought it wouldn't be all that good, but after they tasted it, that changed their minds about...

    Chocolate Covered Strawberry Dunkelweizen

I would think that strawberry extract would be better. If you look up "I Eat Danger for Breakfast Stout" they tell you to use baker's chocolate, but I didn't want the mess so I used 4oz of cocoa nibs that were soaked in nearly a bottle of Maker's Mark. I also added cocoa powder to mixture. It...

    Chocolate Covered Strawberry Dunkelweizen

Use baker's chocolate if you want to actually use chocolate. The chocolate bars won't work real well in the secondary. You can put it in the wort at flameout. Cocoa nibs work pretty good in the secondary after soaking them in some vodka or bourbon. this does sound like a good idea if you...

    Boomchugalug

I have ordered 3 kits from them so far. The last one is going in the bottles tomorrow. Their shipping is quick and they have a flat rate they do to an APO ($7.99 a beer kit...much cheaper than Midwest for me). I will be using them more in the future.

Why is my Pumpkin Ale not carbonating?

Nope...I have added a whole bottle of Maker's Mark an had no issues carbing.
