    Bourbon barrel newbie

Thinking of buying a newly emptied bourbon barrel from a local distillery. Is it feasible to put 10 or 15 gallons into a 25 gallon bourbon barrel or is that just looking for trouble?

New San Diego Super Yeast warm for 2 weeks

I have a vial of WLP090 San Diego Super Yeast that was in my fridge for about a week then I planned to brew but it never happened. It has been at least 2 weeks that the yeast has been out. Am I ok making a starter? Will the yeast still be ok or should I toss it and just buy new yeast...

American Pale Ale Three Floyds Zombie Dust Clone

I brewed this tonight, biab and I came in low at 1.051 og. It smelled unbelievable before pitching. Might be a little less alcohol than the original, but I'm pumped. I'll update in 1 month! Thanks for the recipie! I haven't tried the original zombie dust, it's impossible to find in Ohio...

    Brewers best possible mistake

I've left all of my brews in the primary for 3 weeks and have always had great results with no secondary. It gives the yeast time to clean up any off flavors and it settles out and makes a very solid yeast cake for easy racking after 3 weeks. My beers have been super clear also.

American Pale Ale Three Floyds Zombie Dust Clone

Do you think I'd be ok using WLP001? I am about to do my first yeast washing and was hoping to use it to brew this awesome clone.

    1st AG full boil BIAG

If I am doing beersmith correctly, it says the estimated pre-boil gravity would be 1.035. I'm new to beersmith. I just did my first two biab's and they both came in with higher og's than I was planning. I could be wrong, just my two cents.

How long after racking can I havest?

The items are coming in the mail tomorrow, so it will be over 1 week since racking. I've decided to just dump the cake. There will be many more times to work on harvesting going forward and I don't want to waste a batch on infection.

How long after racking can I havest?

Looking to try to harvest my first yeast. Waiting on my mason jars, they will be here tomorrow, I racked the beer 3 days ago, so it will be 4 days since racking the beer. I closed the lid an put it in the fridge for the primary. Is it ok to harvest tomorrow or should I just wait until my next...

Brewer's Best American Pale Ale - Tweaks?

I don't think the slow chill will affect your great beer at all. It's good to chill quickly for cold break and also to keep contamination out, but most likely your beer will be excellent! I recently bought a wort chiller and my wort chills to temp in 10 mins max. It saves brew day time and...

    Holy Brewers Best Australian IPA

Simply outstanding if you like grapefruity solid Galaxy hops. Didn't know what to expect but it's easy and by far the best Brewers Best I've had. Nice IPA.

    Great Craigslist Deal

I just bought a full-sized fridge and freezer that is definately not new, what I believe is a 20lb co2 full, and complete kegerator set for $100. It is all in excellent used condition. The only thing I'll have to do is drill the hole for the keg spout! This will be my first operation in...

    Favorite Brewing Music

The J. Geils Band. The woofa goofa mamma toofa always makes the brew taste a little sweeter.

    Kits: brewers best?

I've done 4 BB kits and they have all come out nice. I also recently did partial mash kits from AHS. The AHS kits were fun to make and one step closer to all grain, but I didn't need any additional equipment. I can't wait to see how the beer comes out. AHS delivered very timely, and the...
