    Plastic bottles leaching?

I typically do not, i usually just rinse, use a bottle brush, then a water jet, dry, sanitize. That is the same thing i do with my glass bottles as well though.

    Plastic bottles leaching?

I have been bottling for a few years now between kegs, glass bottles, and soda bottles with the pete1. Eventually i noticed i would randomly get very red in the face and have slight difficulty breathing after drinking. I initially thought i had developed a beer or yeast allergy but it was very...

    Home-brew shelf life/preservatives

Yeah i'm not sure how to describe the taste of the hoppy beers, just that it is still bitter but loses its aroma. But it has a bad taste to it, not sure what. It's not like it tastes just like malt or whats leftover. Something goes stale or sour there. I do as much as i can to keep air out, i...

    Home-brew shelf life/preservatives

Ok, i read a lot of previous threads on this and see most people agree with proper sanitation beers can last several years. Especially darker and stronger beers. For me i have found brown glass bottles keep the longest grolsch and plastic bottles do not last more than 1.5 years. The brown glass...

    first infection

I typically grind my grain into my fermenter pour the grain in the kettle, then clean and sanitize the fermenter. Those two batches were extract only though. I do not open the fermenter until i transfer to secondary then again when i bottle. Beer smells and tastes fine as of now anyway.

    first infection

Not really a question but an observation. I had done 37 batches without an infection using an iodine solution. Then that went empty i got star san because everyone raves about it. That's when i got my first infection. Seems to be lacto large white bubble pellicle. Not sure what i did wrong batch...

    over carbonation

Yeah pretty much all of them are over carbonated in a batch. I am going to just use less it just doesn't make sense that some were fine with way more. I did brew saisons all last summer they were good. It seems my over carbonation problems began with the ones i did over the fall/winter. it...

    over carbonation

I'm sure this has been brought up a million times but i don't get it. When i first started i used a tsp a bottle and my beers carbed up good even a year later. Then i started using priming sugar 1 oz to a gallon most were good some were overcarbed so i cut back. The last couple batches i did...

    Removing labels from beer bottles.

I just use warm water a few squirts of dish soap, a few shakes of baking soda and a few shakes of PBW. That and typically 2-3 days up to a week. Then i peel them off and use a scrubby sponge. Most are easy. I guess ill try oxy-clean one day most people seem to live by that. I found today...

Your favorite type of drinking glass?

I guess you can't put the horn down though huh? How much does that hold? Can probably get a skull somewhere and cut it yourself.

Your favorite type of drinking glass?

Sounds like the tulip glass is the most popular. Maybe i should get some of them. I figure as much beer as i have made and have stocked i should get more educated on glasses and expand on them a bit.

Your favorite type of drinking glass?

Just wondering what everyone's favorite glass is and why? Personally I like my beer mug as it'll hold 24 oz. Its thick sturdy glass with a nice handle. Pint glasses are fine mainly just good because they are cheap and stackable. Aside from that though i do not own any other beer glasses...

    How much for used bottles?

I'm wondering how much people pay for their bottles? I know i get some that are given to me and i collect my own. I get a lot at the redemption center near me, they charge 10 cents a bottle. I wasn't sure if that if right or not. In NY the deposit is five cents, so i thought it would be 5...

    Harvesting yeast.

It was in the fridge i pulled it out earlier before i poured off the beer. Ill put it back though. It is also a saison yeast if that helps.
