I see a lot of fellow runners here.. I run to offset the calories i take in from beer. Doing the Manhattan and NYC half marathons in the next few months

my mistakes are pretty benign..
1. accidentally dumped my stirbar into the fermentation bucket.
2. ran out of propane w/o a back up
3. Opened the tap on the kegerator and nothing came out.. opened it up and realized that my kegerator was set too low and froze my tap lines. I left the door...
interesting... never though about doing a step mash.. might be worth a shot, I just need to recalculate all my volumes in beersmith.
I opened up my latest brew (yet another IIPA.. although this one was unintentional) to dry hop and took a sample. 1.018.. This one was using 002 and mashed at...
I'm not looking at mine right now but there is a time delay that you set before the cooling kicks on. mine is set for 5-10 minutes so the compressor on my fridge doesn't kick on too often. When i first power it on, it waits for that delay, then starts the cooling.
I think the better question is why is your FG high and in reality, it's not that far off (your abv is only .3% off). Could be a lot of variables with the likely suspects being pitch rate, yeast viability and fermentation temperature. Can you give some more details about your fermentation?
well, success! My IIPA finished up at 1.016. My primary hydrometer reads .003 high so i needed to adjust for that but it seems like bumping the temp up right when the fermentation slowed down seemed to bring it down a little further (like aeration station recommended). I may have been waiting...
okay.. not brewing today, but tapped my first keg last night since about a 6 month dry spell.. double IPA but goes down real easy.. probably dry hopped a little too early, fermentation may have been going on still and lost some aroma.. still psyched though
I did the whole record deal, touring thing back in the early 2000s and it was a blast but man is that a tough way to earn a living.. away for months at a time, living out of a suitcase etc.
Check out some licensing companies like Jingle Punks to help you get some music placed on tv etc. It's...
Running, working on my jeep, wheeling, guns, music production and writing, surf fishing and now trying my hand at building a quad copter.
