To those who helped and/or answered questions, thanks!
Opened first bottle.extract with steeping grains
3 weeks in primary @66-trying 3.5 weeks in bottle at same temps

Don't have recipe on me but feedback:
little too sweet, not enough roasted/chocolate melt for me, body is a little thin (I love oat stouts though so could just be used to that). Still very good, reminds me of the oatmeal stout at trader joes except not enough body or mouthfeel. Little carb, only used enough sugar for 1.5gal @2.0 when it was 2gal or 2.5gal...

At half the price, very worthwhile! Looking forward to how it develops in a week when I come back from out of town, as well as trying the second batch, a vanilla porter extract+steeping recipe from adventures of homebrewing.

Finished the glass, and while I'm sure it's because it was only in the fridge for a few hours so the yeast were probably still in suspension.

Slightly strange aftertaste and strange sensation in the back of the throat.

Had the vanilla porter. Very similar result.
Idk if it's because porters and stouts typically have a more complex makeup, and extract+steeping can't really match ag on this front or something but I'm unimpressed with this one so far.
Yes it's drinkable and enjoyable, but its not really opaque-dark like I'm used to. Nor is it particulaly roasted, or very flavorful like I expect from a vanilla porter.

Going to do a 3G BIAB AG next, I hear good things about Janet's brown ale so going to try that and the Black Pearl Porter.

Maybe it was too simple of recipes that they lhbs gave me, or a limitation of extracts, or I'm just spoiled by such great craft selections in the area but not giving up!

Edit:forgot to mention, zero carbonation. 2 weeks, four days at 68~, 30 hours in fridge. No head, no lacing.
