True. The stuff you really need for this hobby really isn't all that expensive, it's the trial and error that kicks your financial ass and I chalk up my fastferment to that . I'm sure you will be going to ss soon as I have.

Easiest way is to just use the thermowell fitting, 1/2 inch NPT. If you need the thermowell you could thread in a tee. I just used a reducer and a 1/4 ball valve with hose barb.

I agree with the comments that this thing is very difficult to hang up when full. I like the idea of transferring to a keg, oxygenating and pumping into the fermenter with co2. The lid is a weak point. I had to screw it on so tight, second time I used it I cracked the lid, anybody else have...

Is there any reason not to use a bucket with a spigot for fermenting then draw off to a keg rather than siphon? If OK, how far up from the bottom would you install the spigot? I seem to draw up alot of yeast when siphoning.
