    Fermentation Question

I am still very new at brewing. I brewed a Wee Heavy extract kit on Monday. I placed my carboy in a room in my basement where the temperature is almost always 65-67 F and has been at 65 F all week according to my wireless thermometer. Fermentation took off great, I was glad I used a blow off...

    Wee heavy question

Well just to add an update. After 16 hours this brew is fermenting well. My O.G. WAS 1.085. I really focused on the little details of my process this time and boiled as much water as I could in a 5 gallon pot. I had to stay on top of this.one, it kept wanting to boil over. I am looking...

    Wee heavy question

We love wee heavy also. I am new at this so I never thought of using the bottles for a secondary. I may go that route, saves another step. The two packs of yeast is recommended from Northern Brewer.

    Beginner set up questions

I agree with this. I bought the kit with one 5 gallon and one 6 gallon glass carboy. The 5 gallon never gets used. I would like to have another 6 gallon carboy.

I realize I may be limited with an extract kit but I am still a beginner and my only experience is with extract kits.

Looking for extract kit to match an IPA I like.

I thought I put that in there. It is Big Ditch Hayburner from Buffalo, NY. I will add that to the OP.

Looking for extract kit to match an IPA I like.

I have never been a fan of IPA but have been trying them to see if I like them. I found one I really like and am now looking for an extract kit that may be similar. Name: Big Ditch Hayburner, Buffalo, NY. The beer is described as a luscious and citrusy IPA with primary notes of orange, melon...

    Help I have flat beer

The bottles were at 70+ degrees for over a month. The bottles that I have chilled were in the refrigerator for 5 days to two weeks, all with the same outcome.

    Help I have flat beer

I used 3.5 ounces of corn sugar in about a cup of boiling water.

    Help I have flat beer

I did open them warm without any refrigeration, next time I will chill the bottles if I want to add sugar. The caps came with my starter kit so I assume they are made for bottling.

    Help I have flat beer

Not to keep dragging this thread up but I did a little experimenting. I had some extra caps and the bottles I have left have been stored in a room that has been between 50-55 degrees for a month or so. I thought I would add more sugar and recap a few, bring them to a warmer part of the house...
