Hops in North Idaho\Rhizome availability and storage

Wow, thanks for all the great info. I'll be ordering here in the next week or so. I didn't know about the certification for Idaho. Interesting. I knew about the AB farm up by Canada. It seems this is generally a good area for hops :-)

Hops in North Idaho\Rhizome availability and storage

Hello all, I'm thinking of planting about 10 hop rhizomes this year. Up here in North Idaho we can get snow well into March or even later. I was wondering if there is a problem with Rhizome availability and if I should order now before they sell out? I'd hate to get to early May (best time...

    American IPA Hops (Round 2)

I'm surprised more people didn't choose Chinook. It's available, cheap, works for bittering flavor and aroma. It seems kind of under appreciated to me. I've heard about the 'cat-pee' thing but never really picked that out myself.

Advice on using up last of my hops?

Awesome. Thank you for the feedback kpr. I think I'll brew them up here this weekend, one Saturday and one Sunday. I appreciate the feedback and detailed schedules. I've got a handle on what Chinook tastes like but I haven't figured out Columbus v. Simcoe for example. It'll be a good...

Advice on using up last of my hops?

Sweet. So basically I can't screw up. Well maybe I'll do chinook for bitter, simcoe and citra for flavor and citra for aroma. Then the other brew I'll use up what's left using the rest of my columbus for flavor I guess and not using any simcoe. Thanks for the feedback.

Advice on using up last of my hops?

Hello all, I'm trying to use up my hops before buying more. I'd like to turn my current supply into 2 biggish IPAs. I have: 2oz Columbus pellets 2-3oz Chinook leaf 10oz citra 4oz simcoe I have done lots of columbus+chinook ipas and know they are compatible. At the same time a 4-5...

Finish Wyeast 1968 batch with US-05 yeast cake?

Just to follow up on this thread after a couple of weeks. I did end up pitching my 1.030 stuck tricerahops onto my third generation US-05 yeast cake. I got 1/4" of Krausen within a few hours and 1" within a day. It sat like that looking slimy for about a week and now (about 12 days later)...

Looking for a Georetown Lucille IPA Clone

So I just brewed a version of this (I'll post the recipe if it turns out at all) but I was wondering if folks think that the original Lucille is dry hopped? I can't find anything about dry hopping mentioned online and that's usually something brewerys advertise in a beer...? Either gonna crash...

Kern Citra DIPA worth using my citra?

Thanks for the great feedback, guys! Cool that you had Tasty's version, jbay :-) I've used Citra a lot in things like torpedo clones, but usually as an aroma hop. Not sure I'd love it as a full on flavor + aroma. I'll try and track down a Citra beer, I think I saw one in Coeur d'Alene when I...

Kern Citra DIPA worth using my citra?

Hi all - I have about 10oz of Citra in my freezer. I was thinking about brewing the CYBI recipe I found on beersmith recipes recently. My question, though, is the beer in the same category as a pliny, hop stoopid, port brew IPA, etc? Or is it more an IPA for non-IPA lovers. I read one review...

Finish Wyeast 1968 batch with US-05 yeast cake?

Mash was 152F, crush was the same as always and pH similar to what I usually get. 1968 was the only variable. I pitched a starter that had krausen and was about 10-12hrs old. Probably not old enough, I know, but my beer was exploding through the blow off tube within 12 hours of pitching. It...

Finish Wyeast 1968 batch with US-05 yeast cake?

Hi All - I've got a Tricerahops clone that I pitched a starter Wyeast 1968 into a while ago. It seems pretty well stuck at 1.030 now (OG was 1.081). I mashed at 152F. No corn sugar, all grain for fermentables. Maybe a mistake in hindsight. I roused the primary frequiently and kept the...

    Ninkasi Tricerahops Attempts

How did this recipe turn out? I just brewed something similar tonight. I subbed Columbus for Summit and Cascade for Centennial. A few other small changes but basically the same, so I was just curious. Did 1968...first time with that yeast for me! Thanks for sharing the recipe, btw. Cheers...

Rogue Captain Sig's Northwestern Ale attempt

Tasted a hydrometer sample of mine tonight. I think I probably did overshoot chocolate. Otherwise tastes fairly similar. Will have to wait for it to age and then carbonate to really say. Really pleased with it for an early sample though!!

Need help coming up with Abominable Clone

Drinking my first one of these now. Amazing! I can't believe what a great winter IPA it is. Any word on your clone attempt?
