You know you're a home brewer when?

When you are taking a pee break and your admiring the head retention on your work in the bowl.

    Starting a nano brewery

We started planning in April of 2016 and last night was our very first night with the doors open. I have two other partners with me and I don't see how anyone could do this on their own or as a part time gimmick. Our budget came in around 130K and that was cheap because our GC allowed us to do a...

    First Time Brewing This Weekend

Always keep at least two of any measuring devices like hydrometers and thermometers on hand. Also, if something goes awry, don't panicked. Check HBT/Google first before doing anything. Chances are it already happened to other peeps too. Lastly, good luck and enjoy the journey!

    Belgian Trippel & Wyeast 1214

I use that yeast in my Tripels and they go for 28 days in the fermenter before racking. I let them set at 70 degrees with no crashing at all and the beer comes out crystal clear and is amazing. :mug:

    Experimental Hops 7270 and 9326

I've used the 9326 along with Vic Secret in a DIPA. The beer turned out great, but I was having difficulty in seeing what the 9326 was bringing to the table. I still have a bit in the freezer and may do a pale ale with just the 9326 to get a better feel for it.

I'm going pro... got any questions?

Good luck! I am currently in month 4 of our operation at going pro. Something I have really been working on since last April/May and really started to take root in November. We are shooting to be open in May or June, and that is mostly due to the ETA on the federal permitting.

    Yakima Valley hops

I concur as well on the positive experiences. I just received an order with 19# of pellets along with another 8# of leaf hops and everything arrived as it always does. Perfect. Even had a handwritten thank you note for ordering from the guy who packed it.

New Hop - “Fresh tropical citrus, with a hint of wafting joint smoke from around the"

I see a recent trademark filing under the name of Strata for Indie Hops, which I believe make the X331. However, I can't locate anything else indicating the X331 has been assigned a name or name of Strata. donk5, can you clarify how you know this?

X331 Hops - anyone tried them?

That hop schedule looks good for them. I've been doing an awesome IPA using the X331 in FW, WP and lots of DH. It's an amazing hop. Great aroma and flavor in the beer. 5 gallons only will last 5 days when my buddies get a hold of it.

Who's submitting entries to comp in South Korea? (1st prize = $4200)

Longtime lurker here and this is my first time posting on this forum. I'm in as well. This seems really interesting and I liked a lot of what I read about the brewery, their story and what they're doing for beer in that part of the world. I currently have a bottles of an awesome Belgian...
