    As for your Stout....it looks good, if you want heavy, another half LB of flaked barley or add I LB of rolled oats . I often use rye grain or rye flakes to ad a bit of notable spice

    Hey ....I keep a large bag of 2row pale and a Pilsner bag for base grain and if you want something to add body to any recipes ....my prefrance is to add ether Vienna or some Munich. Most of the band wagon is on to Maris otter and I MAY be on to it soon as well.:)

    A little higher mash temp should help attenuation .....try a rise in temp at the end of fermentation for a diastolic rest to finish.... This should do it And take care of any fusel alcohols

    12lbs and a 2.25gal boil off is going to give you much better ABV.... if your SG from your final runnings ( after you have 6gal.) is 1.020 Stop and check your SG for the 6gal batch , if you're Sittin' at about 1.050 ur good without a 2hour boil :mug: u should be sittin' at an ABV of 5-6%

    Hey....aah....how's it taste and what SG is it at. If it's sweet it needs more time ...SG should be below 1.005...almost 1.000. If and when it's that low.... lactos is added to ensure you don't have bottle bombs. 110 g of sugar to 6 gallons will be Very carb,d up and keep it cold to slow...

    No hops during the boil, only whirlpool & dry hopping...

    I can relate .....but I still used some Noble hops , nice easy bittering ,more of a smooth spice hop, I use half an oz for a 60 min. Boil and an ounce at 5 min. then....this batch , a 3 oz dry hop for my porter. It worked well but porters are built for this (hide alpha's well). Saaz for the boil...

    Hey....welcome to the site...you will be able to compare our recipes to recipes available to yours. Grains in a biab are catching on. You will soon see an improvement over extract brews with the addition of Any recipe used in a tea bag boil, but extract contains all the hops you need.
