    Perfect. Sounds simple enough. Thanks!

Preparing first year hops for the winter

I certainly see much colder weather. Although we have local hop growers that have great success up here. Sounds like maybe cutting back the bines and covering the ground they are in wouldn’t be a bad approach.

Preparing first year hops for the winter

I live in Maine. Not sure what zone that would be. Winters certainly drop into the negatives several times a year and can reach -15.

Preparing first year hops for the winter

I have read several articles about “winterizing” hops and still find myself confused about the best approach to doing so. I am wondering how far to cut the hops back and exactly when to do so? As expected I did not yield any actual hops this year and do not anticipate that I will given that I...

    Brown ale recipe in progress

Forgot to mention that part, I felt like the other recipes were quite at the right mouthfeel for a brown and maybe lacked some of the sweetness or richness that I like about browns. I think you may have pointed out what was going on thought, Brewnwkopperkat. Why I didn't think of it, I have no...

Sorry for all the spelling mistakes. I posted this from my phone that seems to think it can autocorrect.

    Brown ale recipe in progress

anyone have some advice or critiques of this brown ale recipe? For some reason I can’t seem to get it quite right so I revamped the entire recipe nd want to know if you all think it’ll be drinkable to the generic brown ale lover. 3 gallons Mash @ 153 for 60min 60 minute boil Fermented three...

    NE Double IPA

Ive made this recipe twice with only minor adjustments from the original recipe. I can safely say that this was one of the first recipes I solely made and enjoyed on the first try with minimal to no complaints. I am just wondering what others think about it, or if anyone has made a similar...

    IIPA critique/Question

I recently brewed a double IPA with mostly Galaxy hops. I am a big fan of the hops, but not the price, so I had to settle for other hops as well. Here is the recipe: 3 gallons OG: 1.07 IBU: 110 9lbs pale 2 row (US) .25 lbs C-40 1oz Magnum @ 60min .25lbs Dextrose (corn sugar) @...

    Amount of dry yeast needed...

I am sure this has been asked on here before but I can't find it.... I am getting ready to brew a IIpa and have read that two packets of dry yeast should be used. My first question is why this is? I usually brew smaller batches (3gal) based on what my stove top can handle and typically do...

5 gallon brew in 2 separate pots

Could you split an all grain or PM into two different pots and just add both worts into the primary at the end? I don't see how it would be any different than an extract being split up, just a bit more work.

Can someone piece together this partial mash recipe?

Would your suggested grain amounts match an IPA profile? Also why add 2 Row? I don't know a lot about the different grains yet so I am curious. Do different grains match different beer styles?

Can someone piece together this partial mash recipe?

I attempted my first BIAB a few weeks ago by taking a left over grain that was handed to me mixed and crushed and adding some extra light DME with no hope of making a great beer, but it turned out to be almost perfect. However I have no idea how to figure out how much of what grain is needed to...
