Blow off tube

I've never had to use a blow off tube until today when I got home from work. The lid on the fermenter is bulging and lots of pressure. What's the odds of the lid popping off??

As always, 50/50, it pops off or it doesn't.

Did you cut off that star shaped restrictor on the bottom of that airlock stem? It's the end inside the bucket. If that plugs up it's 100% BOOM!

I had a bucket breathing like a wild animal. It was fearsome.

Is is cool enough in there? You don't want those yeasties to overexert themselves on the goodies.

Play it safe. Start every fermentation with a blow off tube installed. Or.... Be prepared to clean your ceiling......

Or prime and paint the krausen once dry. Not that I have ever done that.
