so star san says no rinse. its my first time using it. i switched from the brown idophor(sp)

this says no rinse, but the carboy after i dumped it out is full of bubbles. do i just wait till they go away

ok, i understand dont fear the foam, but this is a lot of foam.

also, would it make a difference if i'm making edworts Apfelwein

My Apfelwein turned out just fine with all the form. Also, if you just wait a couple minutes the form fades fast.

Foam is fine!

Try to get all the liquid out though, I just let my stuff drain for a few seconds and rack away.

Its funny....after almost 10 batches with all the form I still ask myself if the form should be there or not. Then I just move along and everything turns out in the end. Best just not to think about it.

Thanks to Nostalgia for this picture....This picture taught me not to fear the foam...no matter what I'm brewing!

Really cool picture. Reminds me of those snake things during fireworks season.

On a side note, My foam last several hours in my carboy when inverted so don't expect it to go away in a few minutes.. I just go ahead and rack with whatever is in there..

I'm still trying to get over the foam fear. I don't get it all out, but I do try to give my ale pail a quick rinse before filling. It just seems so wrong.

I need to make a big sign to hang on brew day. DON'T FEAR THE FOAM!

IF you rinse it...you've defeated the purpose of the StarSan. Just skip it if you're gonna rinse...save the $$

I rinse just before I fill it. I don't let it sit there on the counter with no starsan in it. There's probably a 20 second lag time between rinsing and filling. I think that still has to help with sanitizing... am I right or no?

No, you just put unsanitized water in it.
