The wife and I tried a Koningshoeven Tripel the other night and really liked it. Anybody know what yeast strain this uses, or if it can be bottle harvested? I'd prefer buying the strain if possible, but I definitely want to get the yeast right since it plays such a huge roll.

If anybody's made a close clone, I'd love to hear about that as well.

I still haven't gotten around to trying this, but here's another thread about someone trying to clone it that uses WLP500. I'm still on the lookout for more info on cloning this, so if you try something that works well let me know.

I realize this is a really old post, but I found it in the related threads while looking up Belgian yeasts.

I have successfully managed to harvest the yeast from te tripel and an have used it in my own tripel and dubbel. Both came out great with a yeast character very similar to the koningshoeven tripel.
