I got stuck here with my gf's friends. Bored, I decided to hatch a plan. Throw out an ingredient and someone else will do another. I will brew whatever comes first for the categories below.

You can go in any ingredient order but specify where you want me to add it. Only one submission per person.

I need:
Base malt
specialty grains up to 3
Up to Five hop additions at different times
Yeast strain

I will work the water depending on what is submitted.

Have at it! This is just for fun, and interesting brews.

Base Malt: Maris Otter (or Golden Promise)

Wow, good start.

I have Maris otter, special B, and Columbus on hand!
(I do not have a lizard, though :( )
Thanks for the suggestions thus far.

FUGGLE!!! @30 minutes please
(Sorry...i think that's just about the coolest name for anything ever. Not gonna lie--based my decision solely on that. Enjoy!)

Thanks, all.

Here is the bill thus far:

Base: Maris otter
Specialty grains: special b, English crystal, chocolate
Yeast: wyeast 1335 British ale II
Hops: 60 min Columbus, Fuggle 20 min, tettnanger 5 min, new zealand rakau 1 min
Room for another hop addition.
I will add some flaked oats to the mash as well.

Looks like a good randomized beer recipe. You should post it as recipe #1.

Will do. I figure I might as well ask people opinions on proportions first. Here is what I was thinking:

I get around 82% efficiency which would yield 6.5% ABV with this

8 lbs Maris Otter (Thomas Fawcett) 71.1%
1 lbs Chocolate (Briess) (350.0 SRM) 8.9%
1 lbs Crystal, Dark (Simpsons) (80.0 SRM) 8.9%
1 lbs Special B (Dingemans) (147.5 SRM) 8.9%
4 oz Oats, Flaked

Full body mash at 155 degrees

Hop schedule - 36 IBUs
60 min 0.5 oz Columbus (Tomahawk) [14.00 %]
20 min 0.75 oz Fuggles [4.50 %]
5 min 1 oz Tettnanger [4.50 %]
1 min 1 oz Rakau
0 min 1 oz Sterling [7.50 %]

Nice yeast starter with WYeast 1335

What do you guys think?

So, I brewed the first "You decided my ingredients" beer. I used the exact recipe from above.

I plan on asking for another one in a few days but with a rule on base malt.

Here is what it looked like!

The mash. Dark, as expected.

New Zealand Rakau hops. Thanks for the suggestion, they smell awesome!

Boil, with me about to dump in the Fuggles.

I like this idea and it seems like you could have ended up with something good but you forgot to mention which kind of lizard you slaughtered for the mash...

What did BeerSmith (or whatever) say the SRM is? (If you know, otherwise my lazy ass will have to type it into BeerSmith.)

38.6 SRM. I would probably lower the amount of specialty malt for the official recipe, but I will determine that when I drink it.
