Can you use a lager liquid yeast for an ale recipe??? I was looking through a bunch of recipes I had and it was for a pale ale... It said to use Wyeast 2112 (california). but when I looked that up in Promash, it said it was a lager yeast.. can you do this?

I'm no yeast expert but I don't see why you couldn't use it. I'm sure it will ferment, but you might want to keep it on the cool side to keep the yeast from producing off flavors and such. However, like I said, I'm no expert.

Wyeast: "2112 California Lager Yeast. Particularly suited for producing 19th century-style West Coast beers. Retains lager characteristics at temperatures up to 65° F, (18° C) and produces malty, brilliantly clear beers. Flocculation - high; apparent attenuation 67-71%. (58-68° F, 14-20° C)"

So, if you use it in an ale, you would still want to keep it below 68F.
