So ive just made my 30th IPA last weekend, most of them using WLP001, WLP090 and some session IPA's with WLP644 for some fruity goodness.

Ive been wanting to try the Conan strain and the only 2 yeast brands available here in New Zealand are Whitelabs and Wit yeast, so WLP095 it is.

Now out of 30 starters with the above strains ive NEVER had a starter smell like rotten egg farts, i tossed my first 095 starter and bought a new pouch as i thought my starter may have been infected, well the new pouch got whipped up on my stir plate which sits in my ferm fridge set to 21C and BOOM egg farts, what the hell!

Anyone care to share any insight on their experiences with 095???

Cheers!

So Whitelabs just emailed me saying to reduce the speed of my stir plate as going to fast can stress certain strains out causing a sulphur smell.

Maybe thats the case.
