Hey all, I've got 4lbs of milled 2 row that has me wanting to brew a beer asap..

I wanted to brew a wheat beer and got some suggestions for wheat replacement on here but found out my local hardware store has some Bavarian wheat dme. It's 65% wheat 35% barley.

Thinking something like this for a 5 gallon batch

4lb 2row
4lb Bavarian wheat dme (ld Carlson)
1lb rolled oats

1oz hallertau @ 60

Wild yeast.

I've got a similar recipe concocted on beer Smith but I don't know how it has the wheat dme set up in there since most are a blend.

Oh, and I was thinking of mashing the 2 row like normal then adding the dme as I was bringing it to a boil?

Thanks guys/gals

Yeah, not as much wheat as I'd like but I don't want to drive up to my lhbs which is an hour away just for wheat. I haven't gotten into online grain buying yet so I guess I'll give this dme a try.

Looks good. 1:1 base malt to wheat is pretty typical in wheat recipes.

Finally figured out how to do this. Don't pay attention to the "Yeast" section of it, I'll be using a house wild strain.

Sounds good, just wonder what "hardware store" you got your brew supplies from. Lol I'm sure that was a typo.

Nope, no typo on my end lol. It's a walley's hardware here in town. They have a very limited selection of wine/beer equipment and supplies. It's a pretty funny thing because they actually have a very detailed cake making section too surrounded by power tools and hardware haha [emoji106]🏻
