A friend has to move these hood off his property. He is not a beer person so They were for decoration.

Can anyone give me advise for when he digs them up and how I can best plant at end of the season.

Also any idea what variety they are?

It’s almost impossible to identify a hop by looking at them. They look healthy, so I’d say take them. If nothing else, use them for bittering. It may take a few batches to get an idea of what bittering you can expect, and if you use just those hops, you can get an idea of the flavors and aromas too.
