I bought a 5 pack of 80mm computer fans from amazon and they max out around 1100 rpm (advertised as 2000)... without the magnet attached (600rpm with magnet).

I tried various 12v power supplies from 300ma to 8amp and none of them changed the rpm of the fans.

What fan (or other cheap motor) do you use for your DIY stir plate?

Thanks!

80 mm wont uave much torque your better off with a 120 or 140. Made mine using a coolmaster fan idk about the rpms tho. 120 and 140 will be slower then the 80mm. But wont slow as muchfrom the wieght. U could try lopping off the fins to reduce wight and drag.
