Checking in on my American Amber with East Coast Ale Yeast and fresh Cascade hops. Carb has picked up nicely and the slight astringency that was in the finish earlier, has gone away. Turns out to be a decent, easy-drinker. Not remarkable, but pretty good.

Starting a little 1/2 gallon cider experiment with salvaged East Coast Ale Yeast.

Black Star was excellent. It was busy but not packed. Flight:

L to R: Old Sour Dewberry, Crotchety Dockhand, Recalcitrant Dockhand, and Vulcan.

Also had an Independence Power&Light on cask with Citra and Galaxy. Straight grapefruit juice deliciousness.

Poorly lit brewery porn:

Food was great and picked up a couple bottles to go as well. Old Sour Dewberry and Cantankerous Dockhand, with others from this week:

I agree, although being flat doesnt bother at all with this. Its still very crisp and I think that makes it seem more carbonated than it is. What was your souring procedure/timeline?

You know you want to check that bad boy in. :D

I made a lacto starter from raw grain, let the starter go for about a week. Got nice and sour. Strained the starter and pitched it into the wort, held for 24 hours at about 100F. After 24 hours it had gone from 1.048 to 1.015, so I pitched some S-05 at that point. It wasn't very tart at all for a while and only slightly so at bottling (~2 months in primary). It really started getting more sour in the bottle.

If you really don't believe it, then it is true.

Just got back from the company Christmas party. Onto the good beer. going back to read thru the 9 pages of you drunks rambling about drinking beer... :)

Honestly, I'm on the "just one more" kick. It's a bad place to be when I have so much crap to do tomorrow.

Off topic : ordered one of the yopener bottle openers back on Dec 9. I wish I got frequent flier miles for the trip this thing is taking to get to my house....
Tulsa to Denver to Dallas to Denver to Springfield, MA.

I'm guessing it will be back in Denver tomorrow...

Thats impressive man. I made a grain starter for mine and it turned out terrible haha. Nice work!

Like any self respecting woman, I had to wash the sheets that came in the post today and get them on the bed. After an Army Ground Services concert, this is what I did. Now drinking this because again, work doesn't seem to matter tomorrow. Odd. Second drink ever in bed that wasn't water. You people have ruined me.

Looking forward to it. I did find one bottle at a place by my work, but 1 is just not enough. Got a 4 pack from last year and 2 coffee from last year.
CS is done with their bottle releases for the year after tonight. Hope to have a 'meeting' downtown tomorrow. Worst case, I head there on Monday and grab 2 of whatever they got for you.

Man I want 2014 coffee. People here are ridiculous about it and I'm unwilling to give nearly $50 in beer for one coffee.

on the martha floccin' quaffii. I haven't been sleeping worth a flocc since I quit the chew and have been craving cigarettes bad. thankfully I can nap when i get off work today before I pick up our boys.

I slept for **** when I quit smoking. It was terrible. I hope it passes for you. Congrats on quitting.

Are you wearing white Levi's?

Ha ha. No. Khakis, unfortunately. I'm a raw denim fanatic and would rather have that on than work clothes.

Coff. Been up for the last 3 hours. Slept like ****. Should've drank more last night.

Coffee. Bagel. No picture. So its probably actually BMC and pork rinds.

My fermenters have been dry for a while now. I really need to start planning out my brews for the post christmas 4 day weekend I am getting (I work on christmas) and the subsequent new year.

Office Coff sucks and the line for our fancy coffee machine is too long for me to wait in.

Just got back with another haul from the beer store along with some wine for tomorrow's shindig at my house.
