I’ve been a volunteer firefighter since 1977. I don’t suit up anymore but I can still drive a tender or operate the pumper.
We’re in a really remote, rural area. 90% of our calls are wild land fires. We respond to, maybe 2-3 car crashes a year and 1 or 2 structure fires.
That’s awesome. I’m a volunteer too. Almost 17 years... 2 as an engineer, 12 as assistant chief and now back to engineer. We’re quite rural also. District is 390 square miles... mostly pasture, CRP and farmland. Lots of wrecks on the state highway and county roads but mostly EMS calls.
