Welding Stainless Tubing?

Anybody have any suggestions as far as how to? I'd like to hard pipe my system with SS. I know I'll have to TIG and backgas, but not sure if that is the way to get the perfect "Foodgrade" weld on the inside. I've seen some welded SS and the inside looks nearly as perfect as the tube.

I don't know how you'd inspect the inside pipe weld. Thinking out loud...maybe spend $50 on a 1/2" tube expander tool , make lap joints about 1/4" long, and silver solder the connections. Its gotta be cheaper than all those compression fittings.
