I wax sealed a RIS this weekend. Worked perfectly. My friend drew the label. It's going to be really neat to hand these out as Xmas gifts to all my beer snob friends.

great job!

There's a few youtube videos that show the best method, but one thing I found was nobody mentions how important the wax temperature is.
Too hot and it comes out very thin, too cold? the opposite. I had to fiddle around with test bottles for a bit before I came up with getting it "just right"

Love the label too!

Thanks guys. I just got bottling wax from the LHBS for like $6. We melted the wax in a can by boiling it in a pot. Then just dipped them a couple times to get it nice and thick. It was really fun and the few that I have handed out so far were received with much enthusiasm. The beer itself is a 12% beast, so it should satisfy my friends that are nuts about brews like Dark Lord and such.

Here are a couple more pics that I don't know how to insert because of their size:

I just dunked it really thoroughly and turned the bottle right side up to let the wax run down the bottle. Neat effect that I stole from Three Floyd's Dark Lord.
