hello,
well our water at my home is nasty to say nicely it. I have been getting my water at a local car wash that has a reverse osmois system for a quarter a gallon. i have seen counter top water distillers on the interweb, anyone have one? do they work good?

They are very slow. Look on ebay for a reverse osmosis system you can mount under your sink.

Even a good carbon filter will take a lot of nasty flavors out of water if you run it at the right flow rate.
