Hi all! Hoping to get some advice on how to make the beers that I've brewed turn out even better for future brew sessions. I've been reading a lot about water profiles and brewing salts.

I wanted to make sure I'm on the right track. It sounds like I need to start with a water test. From my reading, it sounds like this is probably the place to do that: https://www.wardlab.com/product/water-test-kit/

I checked the quality test published for Lebanon, TN where I live, but it wasn't very detailed. Located here: https://www.lebanontn.org/Archive.aspx?ADID=85

I've been using these filters to help filter my brewing water in general along with a BPA-free drinking water hose: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0006IX87S/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apa_i_SUVQDbTGBEFRX

For testing, I'm guessing I should pull the water using a fresh filter.

Any thoughts on if I'm on the right track? Anyone use these filters, or are that not that effective? Am I doing things the wrong way, etc.?

Would I even need any sort of filter if I plan to adjust my water?

Yes, Ward Labs is the place to test your water. I agree that you should use a fresh filter when providing a water sample.

I have no idea how effective those filters are as I use a five stage RO system. For your situation, I would not be incline to switch filters or to install a RO system until at least I received the results back from Ward Labs and saw that some levels were too high that could not be corrected.

I believe, as many do, in starting with a blank slate when dealing with water and then building a profile from there. You are definitely are on the right track!
