So the new growth on my plants is beginning to curl downward. In my effort to check the soil to see if the soil was moist I noticed what appeared to these itty bitty little bugs that jump all around my approaching hand. When I say itty bitty, I mean smaller than a grain of sand but just big enough to see hop away, but not far. No way to get a picture. There is a lot of them, tan in color and they look like someone sprinkled little grains of sand on top of the soil. Trying to look closely they appear to almost look like tiny spiders. Do baby spider mites hatch in soil? Anybody have experience with these little s.o.b.'s? I suspect they are the cause of my leaf problem. I sprayed the plant and surrounding soil with insecticidal soap.
