Using malted milk

I've seen a few posts that say malted milk is just DME + powdered milk, is that true? I'd really like to make a stout with that distinct malted milk shake flavor.

Is there a different way to simulate that?

Ha I read that...was hoping it wasn't going to be similar. So then I should skip the kit out there that calls for dumping two cans of malted milk in?
 
Hell no, I say go for it. Part Of this hobby is experimentation! You might end up with the best beer you've ever made. I would suggest maybe making a 1 or 2 gallon batch for the first run, though.
