I thought I would share how brilliant a designer my husband is (not to mention that he's a great brewer, too!). :) Here is the logo he designed for our brewery:

I can hardly wait to see it on labels.

:rockin:

That's very clever! When reading the title of the post, I wondered if you were going with rook-bird or rook-chess piece, so it's great that the design incorporated both. Well done!

Glad you like it. :) Both chess and birds have some significance to us, so we thought "Two Rooks" fit well. A lot of the names we are using for our beverages refer to one or the other. For example:

  • King's Indian Pale Ale
  • Stark Raven Mead
  • Sweet Blackbird Stout

We also have some beer names in reserve to use when the occasion calls for it:
  • Northern English Defense
  • End Game (Old Ale)
  • Passed-out Pawn (Porter)
  • Dubbel Rook Sacrifice
  • Pawn Marzen
  • Fowl Play IIPA
  • Early Bird Saison
  • California Common Titmouse
  • House Sparrow Ale
  • Birdbrain Barleywine

I always love his font choices, too; he is amazing with display typography.

The typography is great! :mug:

Starting with a 1 color logo is always the best way to go.

I'm sitting here looking over the label, thinking that I should try to find some kind of critique, or something negative to tell you to work on, but I can't find a thing. Love the logo, love the bird and the chess piece. Really like the beer names too. Great job.
