It was a very sad weekend for me!

I completed my first All Grain batch several weeks ago and added some dry hops in the secondary. I was about to gently deposit the carboy in my cooler when it slipped out of my hand and SMASHED on my concrete floor:mad: I didn't realize how much of a mess 5 gallons of beer could make. The wife really wasn't impressed.

It would have tasted so good too! I was able to sample some when I measured the gravity.
I'm so sad that I decided to take the day off from work to brew another batch..

I think it's time to go with Plastic Carboys! :tank:

Luckily you didn't get hurt!

I actually did.. A shard of glass penetrated my heel. I had to remove it with my wife's tweezers. What a bloody mess!
Maybe I should drop the beer brewing hobby and take up medicine school ;)

Had a glass pitcher shatter on my as a kid, so I just don't trust large glass jugs. I'll do meads in glass, but only a gallon at a time.

Losing a batch is truly a tragedy.
