I am a little enchanted with my local mugwort, which I had instinctively rubbed and sniffed previously, when a friend told me a rumor that local natives used it for meditative purposes. Later I read that it was used by some brewers as a bitter.

Mugwort is also known as some sort of wormwood, and is called artemisia vulgare I believe.

Does anyone know of any health hazards that it might present?

Is it proven to be safe? Anyone know more about this?

I am curious to try a mugwort brew beer but I have read that historically brewers have been known to try all sorts of ingredients, some maybe poisonous. I thought I heard some hazard of wormwood which was what made absinthe risky or something like that but I could be confused.

It seems likely to be safe just looking at the common name, literally "mug wort" sounds brew related.
