For me it was lucky lager. Hienikan and grolch in the states are pretty high up there which is strange because both those beers served in holland were fantastic!

Portland was an ex-hometown vote. Now I'm in Central Oregon, and Bend is a great drinking city, but Portland wins on public transport. Getting home from a night of drink is just as important as how many places you can go.That's three for San Diego. Anybody not voting for their home town?
i'm torn between philly and nyc. i would have to say new york is the best place to do anything in (except park)- but philly put belgians on the u.s. beer drinking radar- and monk's is the sheezat.I have family in Philly and visit a couple of time a year, I can't believe what a great beer city it is. It has Monk's Cafe voted one of the 10 best place on earth to drink beer. And that is just one of many.
San Diego. 55+ breweries and still growing.

I want to vote New Orleans (obvious reasons), but our beer scene is only just now up-and-coming. Avenue Pub reigns supreme in the beer world here, and a few nano-breweries have started cropping up, so within the year, we'll be a top beer city.
But for straight up drinking in general, can't go wrong with New Orleans, with our lax open container laws and 24 hour bars (what's a "last call"?) and 24 hour eateries, it's heaven.

San Diego
Philly
Portland
NYC
Chicago
For beer? That's an easy one. San Diego. A few years ago I would have said Denver, but San Diego has quickly surpassed it and is quickly becoming the Napa Valley of beer. Stone, Green Flash, Port Brewing/Lost Abbey, Pizza Port, AleSmith, Ballast Point, Alpine, and 50-some others that aren't as big, all in San Diego County alone.
As for drinking cities, I'm very surprised nobody has mentioned Key West yet. New Orleans and Savannah are both excellent places to get drunk, but they don't quite have the same awesome anything-goes atmosphere that Key West has.
Miami south beach as well. I've never seen a Florida city with less law enforcement presence. Underage drinking abounds, people try to sell you crack in the middle of a busy street. I'm sure Key West is even more stupid crazy.
Philly for the win. Pliny the Younger, numerous 120minute kegs aroung, beer engines, rare Belgians and the birth of Beer Week all within walking distance in a small(ish) town? I've never met such an educated and discerning group of beer nerds in my life.
